Title: IZH46m came in today !!
Post by: gard72977 on October 30, 2014, 08:34:06 PM
This is the third target I shot with it. With this target and the one before it I scored an 86/100 that beats my best score with the Gamo Compact by 2 points and I have not been practicing. I had a bad flyer (5). Im sure I will hit the low 90's with it by the end of the week.

I have read many times that the Gamo does not give up any accuracy to the IZH but I does give up a lot of shootability . I think sight radius really helps a lot. This gun is bigger and heavier that I expected it to be.

That cluster is 4 shots. The top hole is out of round.

"I have read many times that the Gamo does not give up any accuracy to the IZH but I does give up a lot of shootability"  LOL, copy that. The IZH really is a decent pistol and if I could shoot a pistol worth a darn (well I double tap okay but that's a different thing) it is one I would want to own.
John

The "Double Tap" is speaking my language. Do you shoot IDPA?

Here is mine Larry.
I have a QD mount on the Red Dot.
When you take it off you can still use the irons.
Remember to keep the bolt unlatched (see photo) when not shooting to keep o-rings (2) fresh:

Good luck.

I'm not an air pistol guy (I only shoot pistols to hone defensive skills; i.e., IDPA) but I can appreciate a beautiful gun!

I got mine about four years ago and it seems they refined the grips by rounding them off a bit.  My grips needed personalization to say the least.

Was that target shot at 10 meters?

The target was shot at 10m. I shot a few more times but did not do any more tight groups. Scores were not bad but just could not get a cluster going.

I shoot IDPA also. I just feel that every time I shoot anything it makes me better. I admit that 10m is a long way from IDPA but extending your arm and pulling the trigger always there.

I enjoy shooting and airguns allow me to do it more so they get the priority (funding) .

The IZH 46M is the best bang for the buck target air pistol.

of all the air pistols I tried, the IZH 46M was by far the most accurate for me. That being said, since I just can't master air pistol shooting, I sold almost all of them. :(

Im going to keep it until I can score a FWB 65. I don't expect to be more accurate with it but I do want one.

Nice...

A used Daisy 7 series is more in my price range and still  probably more accurate than I...

I bought a used 747 on the Yellow. LW barrel, you know?
Just as good as IZZY but a little slower.
Sent it to my son in Arizona.
He is a Grand Master IPSC shooter.
He can use it for trigger practice in the yard.
Great little guns.

I can say from having owned the 3 pistols in contention for the same place on the firing line.
Gamo compact
Daisy 7 series (747&777)
And the Izh

That the 46 has the best grip angle and best overall setup for 10m shooting.

And at the price he paid for it at PA the other day, it is within the same price as the other 2...

Well between the 3 there is no contest whatsoever. If price is comparable.

The IZH is a current gen competition design that happens to have an SSP powerplant. The other 2 are very much older designs and the Gamo was actually just an offshoot of their plinker.

Truth be told, and please don't slap me for this. If I was forced to shoot competition right now and had the choice of the IZH or an FWB 65, I'd take the IZH in a heartbeat. Weight balance and ergonomics are much better.

I had a FWB65II bake in the 80s.
It was fun.
I traded it back to Dr. Beeman for his last HW55T.
I sold that one and made a lot of moola.

After shooting the IZH a little more I may rethink getting a FWB65. This gun is awesome. I shot my first 90 today!! And it was in the GTA match

Don't get me wrong the FWB is one *(&^ of a pistol. Definitely worth owning one. As a target gun it just really shows its age when put up against current designs.

I shoot strings of 5 shots on my targets at 10 meters from a standing position in my basement. Have scored more perfect 50s with the Izzy than with any other target pistol we own and that includes the uber expensive Steyr LP 10. The weight and grip of the Izzy makes for a very steady hold. Would never be without an Izzy. Best bang for the buck in terms of accuracy and ease of shooting is putting it, mildly.

Got ours, used. Former owner added the stippling.
