Title: Gathering The Herd
Post by: ezman604 on July 25, 2010, 11:51:00 PM
After getting both the new shrouds in place, I had a few minutes of daylight to snap a group photo. Here's the roundup of my Benji herd.
Left to right:
Benji XL1500 mostly bone stock. 6-24X50AOIR scope. CDT gold trigger. I just put the strap on it and it's ready for action.
Middle: Benji XL1100 rebuild. Custom shroud on a modded SS .22 barrel. BSA 6-24X44SWF scope. CDT gold trigger.
Right: Benji Super Streak with custom shrouded .22 barrel. Nitrogen Piston converted. CP 4-16X40AOIR scope. CDT gold trigger.

Hopefully I've got them together and it's now time to really enjoy some trigger time. Need to get aquainted with them and let them make me a better shooter. I've put a few rounds down range with them already, so I know they are performers as well as lookers.
Pick you up one of these and hope you enjoy them as I do!!!!
Happy Shooting!!!!
Dave

Very nice Dave.

I think I need a .22 gas ram too!  Been trying to talk myself out of it for weeks...

Having to wait till the heat subsides a little before going outside limits my trigger time a bit. But, ANY trigger time is good time. I have 3 beauties to zero in and pop some paper.  ;D
I also checked the sound level between the XL1500 with factory barrel and shroud against the modded XL1100 with .22 SS barrel and custom shroud. The XL1100 was just a tad bit louder, but that can also be due to the caliber difference.
The XL1100 was zeroed in with H&N Crow Magnum 18.21gr rounds at 30 yards. After zeroing using the target posted for the 30 yard bench rest competition, I placed a couple of small targets onto my backstop. One was the twist-off beer cap, roughly nickel size. Popped it first shot. Then, having folks say they look for dime size groups at 25 yards, I thought Hey, shoot a dime. Well, I did but I can't show it to you, can't find it. LOL
Next I zeroed the Nitro Piston converted SS. Firing Predators (16gr) I was able to get it in the 10 ring after only 3 shots. Then I went to work on a slightly used target. The one below had been used 3X already. I had put some Shoot-N-C replacement dots on it and only shot at a few of them before stopping last week. The ones with the blue circles around them are the ones I shot this evening. You can see the Predators leave a distinct mark. They put an indent and a small circle within the main impact circle. I did pull one and the guns have proven to be VERY accurate. It's now up to the menace behind the trigger to do what he's suppose to. Breathing, concentrating and proper trigger pull.
I'll get more trigger time this week and have placed another order with PA for ammo refill. LOL
I hope to get my shooting down with these so I can enter the 30 yard bench shooting competition. Just thought I'd give you guys an update on how these beauties shoot.

Awh, shucks Gene, make me blush.  :D
I'm just trying to feed the AG addiction we all seem to have. Hope my posts are a tad entertaining and maybe just a little interesting and informative.

Well it seems you are not having any problem spreading your addiction with those mods in those Benji pictures..:) I was already addicted but you are just berrying the nail deeper...:)
