Scaling is not working for me. What are the actual measurements of the outside diameter of the 7 ring for each caliber. I can scale if I have that information.
Lol, please disregard. I have learned to read since that last post. :o

Good shooting guys. I was just to tired after dealing with county fair over the weekend to do any shooting. I'll get ready for next year.

That Palone character is really annoying Squatch.......just ask the blonde who's stuck living with me!!!

That Palone character is really annoying Squatch..
Well, it is annoying when somebody makes you snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. ;D

Just found this. Stinks I missed it for this year. This is exactly what I've been looking for!
-
I wish they went all year long. I would not mind being in the cold and snow.
Norm
-
Me too Norm!!
I shoot outdoors all year long in NJ and would love to see the matches stay active in the winter!
I miss all the smack talk!!
-
Shooting in July August and September is not fun here. It's freaking hot. I'd shoot matches in the winter as long as it's not freezing.
-
Well don't forget we can host our own matches.
Start one up, hopefully we can get more people involved
I too just found these matches a few weeks ago just as the official ones ended
but gard72977 has been nice enough to start hosting unofficial matches.
if you've got any ideas for a new match don't keep quiet ;)

I do not think that extending the matches to winter months will do us any good if only one or two persons will post their targets, like it happened this year We need to start an advertising campaign to let all forum members know that these matches exist.
I personally, after joining GTA, didn't scroll that far down on the list of sub-forums for a long time so I was not aware that these competitions even existed.

Agreed I was on this forum over 4 month before I found the matches
and that was only because I use the " show unread posts since last visit "
button and happened to see the match end post...
The question is how to let people know about them and get them to compete?
I think a lot of people would enjoy it if they would just try it out.

Nice shooting all of you, and I think the guy to watch out for is Craig ..... Craig, did you do that shooting off of sticks/bipod? I just bought a Bog Pod bipod to practice for HFT.
I too don't see these unless they are in the "unread posts since last visit" ... my fault for not digging deep enough. I'll shoot in my basement all winter, only 10 yards.
We are thinking of installing a "shooting window" in a shed, use our portable benches, lighting, and a good heater. Don't need a fridge for the beer or Crown ..... just set outside in the snow. We would have out to a 50 yard range. We need to get started on that project. Oh, and the shed will need some Bluetooth available music, and a system with some punch.

If we could somehow show links to the match announcements and match results in Airgun Gate and maybe in PCP gate ( the two most active gates) that would give us significantly more exposure.
And monetary awards for the winners, of course. I bet Joe P. will agree with this one. ;D
-
I've been thinking a prize would help...
do you think something as small as say a 5 or 10 dollar
pyramid-air gift card or a tin of pellets would work?
I'm sure there are people who would volunteer
to donate on tin of pellets or a small gift card
(I'd be willing to donate for one match)
besides if you practice enough you could win some back later.
Thoughts?

2014 was our 6th season of the GTA Target Shooting Matches (50ft Casual Rifle is the only one in its 4th season). For the first 4 seasons (Could be 3) we had our matches year-round....at one point we had 10+ matches every week. In the winter we might get 3 or 4 participants in a match...sometimes none in some matches. Unfortunately sometimes none in any of the matches.
So it was decided the matches would be biweekly and end in mid-October.....when the wet and hunting season started.
For the 2015 season Random Plinker might try to get permission from the administration to let us post our "'Shooting Match Open' Announcement" in the regular Air Gun Gate instead of in the Announcement Gate....hopefully to bring in more target shooters.
-
We can offset Joe's winnings by charging only him a large entry fee. ;D
-
We could do it like the 1950s drag races, where the winner gets the other guy's car...

I'm not giving my TX200 to Palone! No way! ;D

I like that Joseph, and would also be receptive to donating a PA gift card etc.
We should make Joe shoot facing backwards, using a mirror! He would probably still score better than me. :(

Wow, some great looking targets!!!! Only got to shoot a few matches last year(2013), but am looking forward to next year!!!

hi guys, my 2 cents. im not on this sight much, but in my opinion, these matches would be more popular I think if there was two divisions. one for contributing members which had a prize of some sort. big enough for it to actually be attractive like the raffle. and another division for non contributing members who just win bragging rites, and hopefully are encouraged to start contributing once they realize they are a decent shot. and there also needs to be a sticky with nothing in it other than the scoreboard that is updated after the results from each match are in. maybe use some of the much available advertising spots on the site to promote the thing
-
Wait a sec!!!!
Shoot for pink slips??????
he he he he!!!!
I would gladly get involved with donations towards prizes!!
I enjoy the snot out of these matches just for the fact I can talk smack.....win or lose!!!
I have some excellent excuses all ready!!
I look forward to the matches big time!
Wish we got a little more press on the forum.....lots of members don't even know about them.
I'd bet, although I rarely do, if small prizes were offered we'd get more members punching holes in paper!!
And once again a BIG thumbs up to the guys that put up with this bunch of BB gun nuts and allow us to talk serious smack!!
I find shooting in these matches helps me with target work. Each shot counts!
It's like playing pool with nothing on the line compared to shooting the winning 9 ball for the $800 first prize in a tourney.........a whole new set of variables comes into play!!!
-
been practicing, its getting warmer now:) Just wondering do we start up again on April fools day? Wait what ..pink slip?! I'll just play for fun lol:)
-
I'm in, when you choose a starting date.
