Hey Guys,
I have a Champion shooting bag/rest that has settled since I bought it. I was going to put a slit on one end and fill with rice or kitty litter, then reseal with a ducktape patch :-\
Is this what everyone else does when their bag gets a Big dent in it and is no longer round ???

I don't think I'd use rice as it can absorb moisture from the air.

Hey Kirk.
I use the Caldwell bag and find I get better results when I don't fill it to capacity. My rifles settle into the dent and they seem to like it better.
Accuracy suffering???

I've personally not used an inflatable type bag. I just use a range type bag. Cloth is lighter than rice or beans and settles in nicely. Having a little depression isn't bad at all....to me. I do put a towel on everything.
So long as it's consistent, and sturdy, I'm happy.

Sounds like I may wait a little longer before cutting. I seem to shoot better when the bag is more firm, but maybe I just need more coffee. :P More testing is in order........ Thanks all.

when I filled mine (with crushed walnut shells i ordered at the same time) I topped that baby off until it was well filled. What I found was it tended to move on me which gave me inferior groups to the MTM I also have so stopped using it.
earlier this week I began to think that it should have some slump to it and dumped out enough that the bag settles when I put it on the bench. I have yet to try it out, though think that for me it may work better. sitting the rifle on it seemed to be more stable now that the bottom of the rear rest conforms to the surface.

;D Is it possible to insert a piece of flat plastic in the bottom of the bag to force the bottom flat then add the filler
