Title: My new 3-12x50 "monster scope" is mounted on the R9 w/homemade SW.

Received the Aeon scope last week, however the 30mm mounts didn't arrive till yesterday. I had also ordered a sidewheel from Wild West Airguns but after learning that they were on backorder with arrival in a couple weeks I canceled the SW order and looked for ways of making my own "low tech SW"! The raw materials for my "low tech SW was two PVC water fittings, nylon screws, PVC tape, and a piece of black plastic cut from the bottom of a CD case. Here are a few pics.....

The OD of the focus know was a loose fit inside the bore of the PVC fitting in the glued/machined assembly so I built up the diameter with PVC tape for a snug fit. I thought that the tape would also provide some protection to the side focus knob from the retaining screws. Well, I decided to use nylon retaining screws instead of metal but the few layers of tape did work out well.....

Homemade SW with yellow PVC tape ready for marking......

I needed a marker of some sort so I found that the black bottom of a CD case was stiff yet could be cut with scissors. Here is a pic of the completed SW with marker.....

Here's a pic of my honkin 3-12x50 Aeon side focus scope with "low tech" SW mounted on my R9.........

Now I need to go into the back yard practice lane and do some SW range marks. Hind sight is indeed 20/20 and after looking at the homemade SW I could have machined away more PVC to lighten it up a BIT. The diameter of the SW is only about 60mm , but I think it will work just fine. LOL.....a bit larger than the AO of the scopes I've used in the past!

Nice job Ed. When I had to make markers for my wheels, I used a .035 feeler gauge cut down and blued.
