Title: Gamo vs. Crosman accuracy
Post by: Marc on September 05, 2014, 02:06:46 PM
Seems like a see a lot of guys with Gamo's that are good, accurate shooters, and a lot of Crosman/Benjamins that have issues.

I know I asked a similar question before - but do Gamo's have an accuracy edge over Crosman's?

I would have to ask what gamo's, compared to what Crosmans?

Springer against springer?
Gas ram against gas ram?

Springer / gas ram against multi pump or PCP?

I can say on most days, most guns from either company are capable of out shooting the shooter.

That being said, both companies have their off days of production and quality issues.

I do think there are more parts and options for tweaking the Crosmans as opposed to the gamo's.

You crack me up Marc LOL!  :D
How's this sound?   What Crosman springer will beat the CFX/CFR for accuracy?  Retrigger all of them, I don't care,,, so that takes that issue out of the question.

You are right Bullit!  The CFR will probably shoot circles around them.  I was thinking more in break barrels.

I keep shying away from the CFR because it's specs are a little long and it's over 8#.  If I had the $$ I'd buy a 48 and be done.  How's the balance on the CFR?

The CFX isn't 8#,  unless you include the scope LOL.  Most good powderburners are 7-8lb. range minimum.
To bring it home,,,look at the workhorse Remington 700 rifle.  It has a 20" barrel.   It works and has good history.
The added metal and reinforcement required for the new "CFR" cheekrest adjustable stock accounts for the extra weight.  I personally think it's a very good balance.   As you know, I counterbalance, so it's also on the butt side.  Yeah,,,that "total weight" figure, is a confuser.
Balance is the key....you're right on! ;)

And I was not sure when they give a gun weight, on guns sold with a scope, if the weight included the scope or not?

Yeah.  Gotta watch that stuff with the combos.  They work with shipping weights a lot, now.  Box and packing are an easy calculation in today's market.    Pretty standardized.
In the old days. You could get just the rifle weights, consistently, because they didn't always do the combo stuff.
But heah!  You can get an idea of total carry weight...so it's not all bad ;)
