Title: Shooting/BBQ table
Post by: Privateer on September 02, 2014, 06:35:27 PM
I'm thinking of building something like this with a modification.

I have some nice swing up brackets that would allow the wrap arounds to fold down so I could place it next to my Grill.
That way it serves as an extra table as well as a shooting bench.
The base would be a 6x6 single post set in concrete. All parts I'll use are things I salvaged from demo jobs.
I also plan to have the concrete base done so I could pull it out for winter storage if need be.

Heck Jeff... Go Whole Hog!
Incorporate the cutout section as the top of your shooting stool.  Put the legs on the inside of the stool.  Overhang the top boards on the frame.  Let it rest on a "sub-shelf" or use the beams expose as a slide in shelf, and lock it it, rather than have the Table top boards "overhang", like your photo shows...and hinges.  Gets everything up and under, with no danger of failing.
I think that you'll get a lot of use out of it anyway you do it!    Great Idea !  ;)

That looks like a table for the Big Green Egg ceramic cooker - well half of it anyway. LOL!

The fold up brackets I have are very heavy duty. I salvaged them from a demo.
The 6x6 posts came from another demo.
I was looking for a way to have a good shooting postion but not infringe on the normal settings here.
Nancy wanted another table in the area so I just dug through parts and pieces I had on hand for the table top.
I think it will all work out nice as each side of the wrap arounds can be raised or lowered as needed.
The idea for the seat folding away is great! I thank you for that part as I was a bit blinded to that feature.
Oddly enuff? I probably have the parts to do that.
 ;D

I checked my salvaged stuff and what do you know! I have a couple TV brackets for mounting Heavy TV's to a wall.
Will make a great swing away seat type deal. And it's adjustable.

Jeff, I can't see your image.
Can anyone else see it?

Nice. I could try to build one, but it wouldn't look like that. Most likely it would fall apart after a couple rounds. I can't cut a straight line to save my life! Kaptain Klutz here. :-[ ;D
