Title: Help Me Pick My First Gun
Post by: Immerse on August 30, 2014, 10:23:24 PM
Hi, I'm stuck between the Crosman M4-177 and the Crosman Classic 2100B. I'm leaning towards the M4 because it has a higher pellet clip capacity rather than single shot. I will be using this for mainly plinking and some grey squirrel hunting. I would like your opinion on this decision, thanks!

I have 2 M4-117's. Not crazy about them. OK for plinking out to 20 yds. If your budget alows, and you don't mind pumping take a look at the Benjamin 397 or 392. Much better quality, and a lot less plastic.

Get the 2100! Put a small AO scope on it, shoot crosman pellets and you are good to go! I strongly suggest staying away from pellet guns that look like assault rifles! This is a very bad idea.  They will scare people (police).

The 2100 is a great place to start!  My first! No dove or squirrel was safe within 25 yards. Good luck.
Shoot safe!

I agree with MEAT Get the Crosman 2100B, I had one almost 30 years ago and in the first Month of squirrel season using crosman pellets I bagged almost 100 Gray Squirrel with it, most all were head shots at max 30 yards. Its a great gun and will last a long time. I still have one to this very day that I like to plink with every now and then. Its very quiet and accurate. You can carry it all day even with a scope, I reccomend you get a good scope for it, 3x9 x 44mm AO, is plenty of scope for it. You wont be disappointed! I tried not shooting any BB's out of mine, I always thought the steel BB would maybe mess the rifling up, but maybe not!

If you look on YouTube for Ted's HoldOver you will find Videos on the performance of the 2100.

I have an M4 and it is sitting in my basement in pieces. Stock shattered while pumping, and the rest is just not very impressive. I would go with a 392, or if budget will not allow, I'd go with the 2100.

I have a lot of guns, and I would like to add a 392 (Mac Steroid Tuned) to my collection.
