Years - 10 pellets, 25.39 JSB Diabelos, out of my .25 Daystate ranger. I pumped it up to its full 250 on the BAR and set out a 100 yard target. The first went high right? But I jerked the trigger so I figured it was a gonner. 2nd went a little high and left but I knew that was coming. Come on settle down - I'd been shooting for the better part of an hour and was not happy with the groups I was getting from some other pellets. So I came back to the JSBs which had done about the best at 100 yards - 1 1/2 inch group a few days ago - not bad but it could be better.
I'm used to precision shooting. 1/2 moa at 100 yards is acceptable. I've shot tighter but this was in 3 shot groups with sniper rifles. So this "pellet gun" was not impressing me very much. Except when I was shooting at Starlings or other nuisance birds. Then it was wicked accurate.
So I settled in with bag and bipod and hit one right about a minute, wind is gusting a bit, OK the next one was about 1/2 minute right, still some wind gusting. Then the wind just quit - I fired the next six one after the other with only a pause to work the bolt and regain the sight picture - .625 c-c group. I wasn't totally sure that is what happened but when I walked down there it was true - I dug the pellets out of the hole and 3 were stacked on top of each other. And all of them were pretty bent up and expanded and the first ones were 3/4" in the Hemlock board. Accuracy and penetration! Wow -
