Title: air stripper?
Post by: Whatsquirrel on August 25, 2014, 02:37:23 PM
im getting ready to sell one of my many .22 cal rimfires & gonna buy an at44-w in .177. One of my questions is how effective is an air stripper? Also how much would the poi change when it is removed & a lcd is installed. i would shoot the stripper when at my country house & put the lcd on in the city. thanks for the advice.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but a good ldc incudes an internal airstripper. Yes?

A true air stripper may enhance accuracy IF it is adjustable. A non-adjustable air stripper could make the gun less accurate.

Anything attached to the muzzle end will change POI. Like it won't bemuch, but be aware that pellet impact will shift.

The air stripper is extremely effective. Keep in mind that adjustments of 1/16" can make a big difference. It is tedious and fatiguing to set up, but once it's there, it is extremely useful.

What I don't know is if unscrewing the stripper and putting on an LDC changes POI. I was thinking about doing the same thing, LDC in the backyard, stripper in the hunting fields.

The Hatsan stripper is adjustable.

As bchef said, it will change the POI ever so slightly no matter what. The question is, will the POI shift be noticeable at range?

;D LDC on my RS II .22 after initial slight shift in elevation at  25 yds all is consistent. Also bunged up my hair curler baffles when installing de-pinger. but off and on with LDC  only required minor changes after initial scope corrections

I like air-strippers, but the adjustment is critical to accuracy.... We can't use LDCs in Canada.... Any muzzle attachment will change your POI....
