Title: pump a tank?
Post by: Phire Phite on August 17, 2014, 11:27:36 AM
So this may seem odd for most, but if I got a small tank to aid in refills while shooting, is it something i may be able to fill up by using a hand pump?  I get very few opportunities to shoot for any extended period of time, and most of the time just on the weekends anyway.  Certainly not enough to refill up say a Mrod 10 times from one (small) tank in one sitting.  Id get off 25-50 pellets if it were the best case senario.

That being said, especially with my lack of ag's and useful time, would it be feasable to do this?  The pump needs a rest every whatever 50 pumps or so, and I would be in no rush to fill it.

yes it is possible.
I have a 48 CI ninja tank that I keep full wit a FD pump, and I use it to refill my gun.

Sweet, that's what I wanted to hear.  I assume that they would need different adapters but that's all?  When I have my Sumatra, RS II, .30 condor, and Recluse then I'll get a shoebox. :P

If you are going to have all those guns you may as well get an Alpha 90  or a Bauer ;)

What kind of adapter you need to fill a tank with pumps ?

This sounds interesting, I didn't know you could.

Well, I'm a cheapbutt so I don't know if  I'd buy one of those anyway.  Plus, if I did and was filling things up that quick I might need to borrow some ammo.... 8)

I've got Manny intrigued, that makes me kind of excited.  Glad it's not a totally out there idea.

Air puff, do you know the name or have a pic of the adapter you have on your pump?  That 48 ci Ninja or Air Venturi is exactly what I was thinking.

Does your tank have a male Foster? If so direct connect to the female Foster from your pump hose.

I have seen videos of guys filling guppy tanks from a pump.

The tank did have a male foster like most of our guns..

So just hook the pump up and exercise..

Hi, just connect the foster in your pump wit the foster in the tank, and pump away.

you will also need a fill station, to fill the gun from the tank.
what i did was:
1 I did removeved the regulator inner parts from the tank, so I can fill to any pressure I want

I forget how many pumps, but I tried the small benji bottle.hours later,I was at 800psi.
not something even close to barely worth it for me

I have just finished pumping up my tank, it was at about 2100 psi, after around 400 pump strokes it is full (about 3100 psi) again.
it was don in 50 pump strokes sets, yes you breath hard, and you get your arms and legs hot, but the independence feeling its great.
now I have to pump the gun and I'm ready to go

So, where do you get the adapter to put on the tank so that you can attach the pump ?

Not quite so,

I was given a scuba tank with one of those https://www.pyramydair.com/product/air-venturi-k-valve-pcp-scuba-charging-set?a=2848 (https://www.pyramydair.com/product/air-venturi-k-valve-pcp-scuba-charging-set?a=2848)
and there's no foster fitting anywhere

Hey Manny
That is the same rig I have. I had to buy the female foster separate. I use this rig to fill my disco. When i go to get my tank filled I take off the rig. Sorry i do not know how to fill thru that rig

I am going to try the male to male connector I bought, though doubt I will actually do it as pumping the gun is enough of a workout, let alone a tank to 3500 psi

And a Male Foster with NPT.
