I read a post on the yellow stating that Chip Hunnicut announced that the Brown Box Crosman Premiers would be discontinued for 2015. Is this true? Those pellets are one of the only crosman products I buy.

I read about the .20 cal being discontinued in the box. I have not noticed any other caliber being mentioned.
It seems to me that the .177 & .22 are solid sellers. Hopefully they keep making um.
-
Oh! I hope they don't do that. >:(

These rumors have been surfacing for a while now concerning the .20 cal, but I really don't know about the .177s I've used for decades. For my HW springers no pellet had performed better than a good fitting CP, however the last two cases of CPLs I bought had excess parting compound on the pellets which "cruddied" up the loading fingers and bore of my R9 so I needed to wash them. The pellets were still very uniform and shot well untill the bore got fouled.
Well....just for grins a while back I ordered 8.44 grain 4.52mm JSB Exact pellets from Pyramyd Air using their "buy four and pay for three plus 10% discount code" deal and found that the JSB Exacts were every bit as accurate as a good fitting CPL without the need for washing and drying them!
Anywhoo.....since trying the JSBs I'm not very concerned if Crosman did discontinue their "brown boxed .177s"!
As a side note...Pyramyd Air does a magnificent job of packing pellets for shipment!

Yup!!! ^^
Those JSB 8.4 are, by far, the best 177 pellet I have found......and I tried tons!!
They are the only pellet that shoots well in every rifle I have!
Excellent quality and boringly consistent!
I used the boxed Crossmans in my 98 and they were great.....but fit was way too tight. Vortek spring broke......first time I saw this happen. Wonder if tight fitting pellets would cause this. Tried the JSB 7.87 in it and they perform!!!
The Crossman pellets won't even fit in my 97 and Pro Sport.
Go with JSB!

pretty sure the .22's are saying good bye, not certain on the .177.
John
The attached pics are my reason for deciding to buy a stock of them in case this turns out to be true. Group shot at 28 yards (my zero range) in a 5 - 8 mph variable crosswind about an hour ago.

Funny, my R11 does not like the JSB. Likes the CPHP/Benjamin in the tin, and loves the H&N 4.51. JSB makes a good pellet for every rifle I own except the R11.
My Disco loves H&N Barracudas & CPHP/Benjamin.

My HW98 (R11) loves the Crosman .177 pellets in the box. My other rifles -- HW77 and TX200 -- not so much. I no longer have .22 springers, but none of those I had liked the .22 Crosman pellets. Unlike the .177's in the box, I did not find that the .22's were a bargain at half the pellets for the same price.
-
My 98 loved em also.......but the fit was very tight. Could not seat them with my finger and needed to push them in with a tool.
-
It sure would be nice to see a statement from Crosman, with some detail on the subject.
I'm kind of thinking that it may be that they will only be discontinuing the Box quantity. Perhaps going to "all pellets will be sold in tins"...strategy. They're good pellets, so I'd be surprised to see them just go away.

Chip issued a statement a while back that the boxed .22 premiers were going to be discontinued. He didn't give a date. Now is the time to stock up if you want/need some. My guess is once they are no longer available, the guys sitting on them are going to want top dollar
