Title: Crosman Custom Shop 2300...I had no idea!
Post by: airgunwarriors on August 05, 2014, 11:01:26 PM
I got to shoot a Crosman Custom Shop 2300Kt Co2 powered air-pistol this past weekend and I had no clue that they are as awesome as they really are! Very accurate, and just felt of great quality!

This one had the standard length Crosman barrel and it made me a more accurate shooter with a pistol, which I'm generally terrible at shooting!

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the quality of that Crosman Custom Shop 2300Kt reminded me of the quality found in the Air-Arms and Daystate that I was shooting that same day!

The Crosman Custom Shop 2300Kt blew me away with its accuracy, quality and its price! Especially with that factory stock barrel! Pretty sure it's the 8+inch barrel by the way.

Cheers,

AGW.

Generally they are good but, as with any other manufacturer, there are some horror stories about the Custom Shop.

The Owner of it bought it used and really does not know if any tuning was done to it and has had no way to compare it to any other 2300Kt.

Everything looked like it was directly from the Custom Shop though. Not sure if this is normal or not, but aside from its stellar accuracy and quality of feel...when opening and closing the bolt, it was as smooth as silk!

It has the hard-wood pistol grips and a ldc too.

Did not seem to be pellet picky at all by the way and we were shooting all kinds of .177 ammo!

Could not believe how accurately I was shooting with the open sights, just amazing!

That's a bummer about "horror stories", especially from the Custom Shop! You kinda burst my bubble with that information, but I am glad you shared it with me.

Thanks,

AGW.

I'm glad you like the 2300KT.  I got one just a few weeks ago and have been extremely impressed.  The workmanship is great and the gun is super accurate.

Not to worry. I've only heard two horror stories out if all the posts I've read. Heck, I've owned two Custom Shop carbines and both were great!

I got my 2300KT and it's big brother the 2400KT carbine.  Both are very good.  BUT.....   before prdering I had watched a Youtube video of a guy waxing eloquent on his 2300KT, and showing the finish of the pistol grip and trigger guard - it had been polished to eliminate the casting seam and refinished very smooth.
Looking at mine, it has the identical same frame as my Walmart Special 2240 pistol!  The same finish, the same casting seams....  So, I assume his gun had received some 'extra love' by somebody, that does not go into all Custom Shop guns.
I also had thought the inner workings would get a little attention compared to the off-the-shelf guns, but again, no.
My view is that the Crosman Custom Shop is basically just a 'plug&play' parts swap, letting the customer get some quick and basic options added to the factory gun, NOT true 'custom' work.  The guns still need a good going over for the internals.  But I am still happy I got them.  The 2240 (still bone stock) gets very little shooting time now I have the 2300KT. The difference between them is night & day.
Heaven help me, now I am doing the same mods to my 1377 pumper.  ;-)

You get an adjustable trigger and the barrel gets crowned.  Other than that I get the impression that it is a matter of getting your pistol assembled from available parts by someone who has a lot of experience with it, plus you have a very good range of available options from a single source, all for less than it would cost you to do the same thing yourself.  I also think the cost is pretty reasonable.  I was trying to decide between the custom 2300KT and an RWS LP8 and the custom-built Crosman was less than the stock RWS.

And you get the steel breech cheaper than you could otherwise.

I hate that I've never shot a "regular" 2240, like from Dick's Sporting, as I have no way to currently know of any differences between the Custom Shop 2300Kt and the 2240...as far as feel and accuracy goes.

I do agree that the Custom Shop is a great way to save money and get many of the custom options you'd want on a stock 2240 eventually and at a better deal.

Again, all I can tell you is that for under $100.00, the 2300Kt that I shot, was phenomenal in accuracy and quality of feel!
(had the short barrel, and LDC...that's it!:)

Pretty sure owning a 2240 or Custom Shop model has crossed many a Air-Gunner's mind, to me, the Custom Shop would be the best way to go, as you can have the version of the 2240 pretty much the way you'd like, all at one time! :D

Then it would be a matter of adding just a few more upgrades, if you feel you even need them.

If all of the available Custom Shop Crosman barrels are as accurate as the one on the 2300Kt that I shot, that would be even better! That standard length barrel on the one I shot was not even pellet picky within 15-meters!

Cheers,

AGW.

Do they even offer a dual co2 cartridge adapter for the 2240 lineup?

Thanks,
