Title: TX200 will arrive tomorrow!!
Post by: s500 on August 05, 2014, 09:31:12 PM
K so thanks to all of your advice I ordered the TX200 mk3. It should be here tomorrow when I get in from work. This will be my first spring gun. Any advice to help me shooting it will be appreciated. I have been shooting a air arms s500 and love it. Last month killed 143 sparrows. What can I expect in accuracy compared to shooting the pcp.

Mine love Air Arms 16 grain pellet. One of the best spring rifles you can get. I love mine. Is yours .177 or .22? No pictures or it didn't happen. :) Just sayin

I shot a tuned .177 TX200 a few weeks ago. Beautiful wood work. Shooting it was a dream. Solid thud and very accurate. Good luck with it..

mine is 22, same as my s500. I have heard that you have to learn to shoot a springer. I am going to put a ultradot on it till I can save my pennies and buy a good scope. I have been shooting all my life , used to shoot pistols competitions till got bad eyes. Bought s500 to shoot sparrows and starlings and fell in love with shooting airguns.  I guess I caught the fever and sold my 22 pistol and rifle to buy the tx200. I have always liked shooting for point. I sure hope it is accurate. Bought it to take to country to shoot snakes, turtles and vermin, but if it turns out to be accurate enough I might just slap a hawke with the sr pro reticle on it. Tomorrow is going to be a realllly long day!

Once you pick it up, it's hard to put down. Mine is 177 and it loves JSB 8.44 with a 4.52 head. FTT 8.64 with a 4.52 head works almost as well. Put a Vortek #14 kit in it last year. It's shooting at 13 Fpe, very nice shot cycle. Congrats on the new gun.

your gona love it.  Take your time and work out your hold and pellet.  I installed a Vortek kit in my .177 and wow its is so smooth.  I had mine out for a few shots after work tonight.  It was a good night  I got bored with shooting  groups so I started  punching out the Small target numbers on the target rings at 30 yards with ease.  Every one that see it loves the deep bluing and stock they are a dream to shoot and look at.  Dont freak out when the little rubber bumper falls out that keeps the lever from hitting the bottom of the shroud.  Ask any TX owner and they will tell you about that "dang" thing.  I  replaced mine with some O rings on the leaver and never looked back.  My bumper fell off the same day I got my rifle and the dog ate it.  Congrats and cant wait to see the pictures.

My bumper never did fall off, if it did I lost it. :) I did get a cocking assist.

My bumper has yet to fall off but put the o-rings on so now I have both.  Just buy #8 or #9 o-rings, either will work.  I have only had mine a couple weeks.  Beautiful rifle.

;D The TX 200 MK III .,22 is accurate and definitely strong enough to put some decent glass Hawke Eclipse should fill the bill nicely. The new Endurance 4x16x50 can be had for $250 + shipping PM me for the vendor info . The endurance 30 replaces the Eclipse in the hawke line up

The learning curve is not very much when it comes to the TX200. You will think you are in heaven.  ;)

I also sold my .22 pistol and rifle to buy my TX.  Both powderburners were heavily customized and incredible shooters.
Couldn't be happier with my decision.  ;D

I am happy with my decision to sell 22's to get the tx200. I had won a lot of matches with them, but it is hard to get ammo and it is also expensive. Moving on to the tx200. FedEx did not arrive till 7:00 pm. I was able to slap ultra dot on and get in about 10 shots. It will definitely be different from shooting the pcp. I think I am going to really like it. However I now remember why I quit shooting the pistol competitions. ..... I cant see well enough, haha. Even at 15 yds I can barely align dot with black 9 ring. I love the balance of the gun though and think it would exelent with dot sight for quick shots if a person has good eyesight. I guess I am just going to have to start saving my pennies to get a scope. Next few days are going to be pretty busy so will try to get pic and post more when I get to shoot some more. Thanks for everyones help on my decision to buy this rifle.

Enjoy the journey!!
My favorite part of acquiring a new springer is learning her personality!!
I have a few really sweet springers....the TX is the easiest to shoot well! Very forgiving, not pellet or hold fussy, insanely accurate.....and super sexy!!
Had a couple hours free yesterday and shot this 7 shot group from 30 yards off a front bag.
She does this more often than not!!
You're gonna love it!!

P. K so I have had a couple of days to shoot it a little. I haven't replied for a reason. I was getting really disappointed in it. To the point of sending it back and never buying another springer. Let me explain why. Everyone says that they are not pellet picky. My s500 shoots all pellets well, so I started out with the 15 grain jsb which is what I am using now in the pcp. Best groups was 3 inches! Decided it just needed to be shot some to slicken up the barrel. After 100 rounds no better. Tried 13,4 and got worse, 5-6 inch groups. Tried 14. something jsb, about the same. Decided it must be the ultra dot so ordered a scope from pyramidair, not in till next week. Today I decided to try the various pellets again and found some 18,1 jsb;s. All other pellets shot as before. Then I shot the 18.1 jsb pellets......wait for it! Five shots all touching at 30 yds. This does not seem to be the norm from what I have been reading about the tx200. I will try the other pellets when I get the scope mounted. Should I be concerned about this? I have about 300 rounds though it now. Oh bought the 4- 16 refurbished eclipse scope . Let me know your thoughts on this. My mind was made up that if it did not get better I was sending it back. Is this a sign of problems or is it just pellet picky?

;D My suggestion if you haven't cleaned the barrel yet do so then try medium weight .22 pellets but if at the end of the day that is what you rifle shoots best with enjoy the heavy hitting accuracy Mine likes 15 to 18 grain pellets and is truly not picky. The Eclipse is an awesome scope you should be very happy with that combo

Get more lead down the chute!!
If that is what the lady prefers........feed them to her!!
5 pellets touching at 30 yards is nothing to sneeze at!!
Her taste might change after a couple thousand rounds also.
My 97 in 177 would shoot NOTHING accurately besides JSB 10.3 for the first couple thousand....now she shoots FTTs, JSB 8.4 and 7.87 laser like....and doesn't like the heavies anymore!
Is it any wonder why we refer to our guns as she???

Sorry about no pics guys. I have just been extremely busy last few days . I was extremely disappointed and frustrated also till found that it liked the 18 grainers. If I have time I will try to take pic this evening. Would like to try 30 yd target with dot sight just for kicks before putting scope on. Pulled a patch through barrel last night ,then took shot out window at 2" spinner about 45 yds , WHACK. I think I will keep her now.

I live in the Dallas area, if you would like I could possibly take a ride that way on Wednesday and bring a few guns you could shoot. :)

Gee thanks booger but during week is out of question for me due to job. Maybe on a weekend though. Or maybe this fall we could meet in Centerville and hunt some rabbits.

That sounds great, except for the hunting part. Walking more than 15 minutes can't be done on my part. I have a bone disease that prevents any extended walking.

OK you asked for it so here is a pic of tx200 with ultradot sight. And I included a few of my favorite targets shot at various distances. Just goes to show how easy I am to amuse . Targets are marbles, 3/8 inch ball bearings, golf balls, and wine corks. Aww "dang", I must be sick in the head.

It's just a matter of degree!

Fortunately, we have a most excellent means of coping.   ;)

Do not make the same mistake I made. Was shooting today and I just started shooting off. Adjust scope, then off again. I scratched my head, checked the screws, and realized I was so excited to shoot my new gun I did everything I was suppose to do except use loctite. I will loctite my rifle tonight because I am having too much fun shooting her today.

Please be careful shooting at golf balls, they will sometimes shoot the pellets back at you.  I didn't get hit, but my house did, and it was behind me.  I no longer shoot golf balls :o.  Beautiful rifle, BTW.

Ltest report!!!  OK so I have about 400 pellets through it now and it is starting to group better, even with using the ultradot. Got word from pyramid today that 4-16 hawke was not in stock, so decided to go with 6-24eclispe. I hope it is not too big.

No issue at all if it covers the loading port and the glass is awesome!!

Thanks for the advice sft and palone. I cant wait to have try at the 30 yd match and have you guys embarrass me , hehe. One thing about the accuracy problem I was having. The loading port area was full of oil or grease when got it. I started wiping it out after every few shots and accuracy kept improving. Now it even sounds a little quitter. I never heard the cracking sound some people talk about, but I did notice a little smoke coming from the barrel inside loading port before starting to wipe out oil. Could the poor accuracy issue been caused from dieseling that some people talk about. Or is it supposed to have that much lubrication in the loading port area? The groups were really horrible before cleaning it out.
