The best co2 bulk fill I’ve found in the last 10 years (even thought it isn’t marketed as such)?
Flying Dragons XS60C PCP.
It’s been awhile since I fooled around with bulk fill (or tethered) co2 guns, but I found a ˝ full 20oz. co2 tank in my shed.
Thought: May as well use it.
2nd thought: This is pretty good co2 performance!
Being a PCP made to run well from 1500psi to about 900psi (sweet spot centered at about 1200psi), it seems a natural for co2 use. CO2 has the same pressure as the lower range of the PCP sweet spot, just a “thicker” gas.
Discovery is close to this, but made to run at 1100-2000psi (centered at about 1500psi), so the co2 performance is not quite as good as the XS60C.
Shoot off:
Rifle on 1500psi air. This rifle has been detuned a bit by way of a strangled off transfer port, so the energy is down from the max of 27 foot pounds. But the shot count at 27 foot pounds was 6-7 shots inside of 4% and the 19 foot pound shot count is 19.

Rifle completely empty of air and refilled by way of a tethered to a co2 tank. Do wonder what the energy would have been before the port got strangled down for lower PCP speeds/higher shot count. It is summer, so I let the co2 tank come up to the ambient 92F temperature for this test.

Results for 20 shots:

Now 13.9 foot pounds doesn’t seem like a whole lot, but its pretty good for a co2 rifle.
Accuracy seems unchanged; either way, 20 shots at 20 yards is about 4/10ths. Faster PCP tests do strike the target higher, but that’s why scope adjustments exist.

Am really tempted to dedicate this rifle to Co2, even thoug I’m not a great big fan of bulk filling. At least during the summer months, it would be more than enough “oomph” for pesting.

Thanks for the comparison

tempted to pull the transfer port restrictor and see what it would do at the original out-the-box settings.
