Title: Found a pellet for my HW30S/R7
Post by: Brazos on July 27, 2014, 06:26:01 PM
Just figured I would pass this along.  I bought my HW30S back in January.  I haven't shot it too much as I have too many rifles and not enough time.  I put a scope on it and plan to use it next Saturday in a little neighborhood FT fun match.  One of the rules for the match is that the rifle cost under $300.  This is the only air rifle I own that fits this catagory as it cost me $283 out the door from PA during their 10% off free shipping deal.  It seemed to like H&N FTT's and CPL's well enough.  That's really all I planned to use for a lower power rifle such as this.  Last week I ordered a bunch of different pellets for testing in rifles.  One of them was the JSB Exact RS 7.33gr pellet.  I normally would not buy that light of a pellet but figured if nothing else the HW30 might like them.  Today I went out to make sure the little rifle was sighted in for my FT match next weekend and figured I would try out the JSB 7.33 grain pellet.  WOW!  After shooting my first 10 pellets in one small, 1/4" outside to outside hole I pretty much am sold.  Just one little tiny hole at 20 yards.  For fun I shot at a Field target at 35 yards and the group was still spectacular though I did not measure it.  But looking at the pellet splats it did well.  Anyway if you have a HW30S/R7 you may add a tin of JSB Exact RS 7.33 grain to your next order to try out.  I will be getting more.

Thanks for this.
I just got one of the refurbs during the July sale, and quite impressed with this little shooter.

Yep.  The JBB RS 7.33gr are the favorite of my R7s too, and by a wide margin.  I go through them like water.

AA Falcon's work just as well for mine. They used to be cheaper than the JSB's.

The JSB 7.33 is by far the favorite pellet for my  vortek tuned HW30. It will group them at 20, 25, and 30 yards all day long.  At distances greater than that; it's just a guessing game. The HW30/ R7 is a great gun at these ranges. If you need more distance, look elsewhere. But I gotta say, my HW 30 is a gem. After a tough day, it's my go to gun. Fun, fun, fun!
