I was looking for some rear sight cover plates for my R1. Theys seem to be in short supply at the moment.
No probs. Easy enuf to make. The thing I am having trouble with is sourcing screws to hold the cover to the breech block.
Where to get and what sizes to buy?
I know you fellas have 3 decades with this ole girl. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Most of the rear sight plates use a threaded insert first. Then the plate is attached with screws that bolt into the threaded inserts. The threading of the breach block is some kind of odd ball electrical component thread pitch. You may find these inserts in a mc masters Carr catalogue or stop by a hobby shop that deals with remote controlled cars/planes etc that may have the inserts and screws you need. The reason for the inserts is to keep the actual screw head small so it will seat flush with the normally thin plate giving a smooth finish. Hope this helps. ;)

I have an example of this. I need several more. I plan to just make them. I just need to know where and what to order for the fasteners.

The screw is an M5 x 0.5MM thread pitch. The more commonly, and easily, found M5 screws are M5 X 0.8MM pitch.
I am unsure as to the length of the screw, but it should be a standard MM length screw if you can find a supplier.

Check your local jeweler or eyeglass folks. Even Dental clinics. I'm not fooling! Their equipment needs service too! Don't know your location, and don't care...just a tip for everyone. If you tear apart old electronics also, you'll find you accumulate a good selection of common small hardware...to size from and then build from, since you say you can make one.
