It came yesterday from Ohio.
Hans Weihrauch says it was built and delivered in 1998.
So, it is equipped with a synthetic piston seal, not leather.
From the looks of the bore, it appears it has been languishing in a gun safe all that time.
It is beautiful.
In its day the HW35 with the locking breech did very well in international competition.
It will be a lot of fun for this aging rifleman.
I stretched it out a bit this morning.
About 100 shots to get used to shooting a "rifle" with open sights again (bi-focals, you know?), and then settled in at the bench for a quick 10.
I know, I know, we are not supposed to shoot springers off the bench, but it is just a test.
Not too bad, I think.

Great. I love my HW35 also. Just don't have the time to shoot it much. Too many other guns that take up my time.

Looking good, Frank! 8)
You going to scope her?

Congrats Frank!!
Maybe a pic of the new lady!! I know you posted a pic in the other thread, but more is always better!!!
You should know better!!

I shoot my springers off a bench all the time. I get my best accuracy from a bench.

I don't think I will Niko.
It is not really for longer ranges.
When I shoot at 20 yards, I can almost load it again before the pellet reaches the target.. ;D
Just kidding.
I did find out last night it likes 4.51mm H&N 8.64 grain pellets.
I just happen to have four tins that I bought when I ran out of 4.52mm that I use in the TX...
I took the stock off yesterday to, lube the spring.
I should have not have had to re-adjust the sights but the rear sight moves very easily so when I tried the 4.51 I had to shoot three before I got back in the black.
So this only at 10 yards from an old man with all the old man maladies:

Very, very nice 8)
That inspires me to shoot with irons this weekend. I only have one air rifle with open sights and another which is capable if I remove the scope.
You should bring her out to the next FT match and shoot some cans after the competition, you'd be surprised to see how far the can will end up. Even with that low power I would bet the can ends up 50 yds out.

Looking pretty good so far. ;D I think you did well getting a later one with the synthetic piston seal, being a later model. You should have the more modern breech lead in which tends to be tighter and will likely lead to the rifle being less pellet picky. I think you can expect maybe a little better power too than the older, leather sealed ones made. Keep us posted on some further shooting. And I'd be really interested at farther ranges if you ever decided to scope it. Maybe it would work for a little fun field target shooting in the Bay from time to time? ;D

Mark, Niko..You guys don't know....The Marauder is as good as gone.
Just waiting for the moola from Illinois.
Just springers from now on, well, except for the PRod and the IZZY and the Bluestreak.
I am thinking I need an RWS 48, now...
