Just got my refurb hill pump from PA, and the part where the fill probe screws into the hill pump seems to be loosing air. I'm not sure the *exact* point of air loss. I can hear it hissing out, and the gauge on the pump barely goes up, maybe to 20 PSI before quickly sliding back down to zero. How tightly should I have the fill probe screwed into the hill pump? I have it in as tight as I can go by hand. Does it need to be hit with a torque wrench?
So two question: A) is there a quick fix? I just got my first PCP and I'd like to start shooting!
and B) where can I buy a new, longer hose? That 12" hose is miserable anyways and needs upgrading.
Pic added for good measure. Threads with pics seem to get more responses lol.
*edit* inside that female end of the hose, is there supposed to be a seal? If so then it may be melted or damaged. There is some red material in there that looks like its supposed to be some sort of seal, and it does not look as I imagine it should. Anywhere I could get a replacement for that locally?

Wrap some ptfe tape on threads.

I ran in to work and used a torque wrench to apply some torque to the fill probe, and it seems to work just fine now. Filled up to 190bar without problem.
I don't like that it needs torque, as this could eventually lead to stripping, however this is the only fill probe I need for now; at least until I get a second PCP. Taking it on and off a lot would probably not be good if I have to apply torque every time.
I'll still get a longer hose sooner than later as 12" is really inconvenient.

If you get a replacement hose, you might look into getting one with a foster quick connect fitting, as it seems to be the industry standard.
You can then get an adapter for your other air rifles that have non foster fittings, so they just snap into the foster air hose.

Call Joe B. , He'll get you a longer microbore hose. http://www.airtanksforsale.com/ (http://www.airtanksforsale.com/)
I agree that you should get a male fitting adapter for your probe, and a female quick disconnect for the hose end. It makes filling multiple brand guns soooo much easier. Joe has those too.

Are you calling an air tool (pneumatic wrench) a "torque wrench?"
AFAIK a torque wrench is a measuring device to tell how much force you're applying,
so you can avoid exceeding (or coming short of) a rated or recommended amount.

No it was a torque wrench. I also have an impact gun (essentially an electric pneumatic wrench), but that would probably destroy the threads.
I'm not sure how much torque these threads will bear without stripping, so I just twisted until firm. Seemed to fix the issue.

Ok sorry -
Do you remember the reading, by any chance?

Those fittings are supposed to be tightened with a wrench, no way you will get them to seal by hand tightening.
