I just did some shooting with at44 long, to my surprise it has lost some fps, the last time I shot it, it was shooting an avg of 949 fps with Kodiak 21.1gr. Today it was shooting an avg of @865 fps. The only thing that I did to it since the slat chrony session was had a target crown put on the barrel. Still shoots accurate just slower. Any ideas? Here a pic of the ten shoot string I did for the kodiaks & jsbs. Target was shot at 30yrds, chrony was 2ft from muzzle.

Are you sure it's not a chrony issue? Your numbers are really fluctuating a lot especially at the first of the string. Outside vs inside or different lighting inside? I shoot mine at 1ft from the muzzle with a light kit and always indoors. Also check and make sure the pellet path is level and consistent going through the chrony.

Mine was shooting alot hotter when it was new. I have around 1300 rounds through the pipe now and it seems to have slowed down around 50 fps since it was new. Could of just been the rifle breaking in. I was shooting the same pellets and I just posted a shot string thread with my at44, check it out it's a few threads below this one right now.

Good point my last chrony session was inside my shop with an led light kit, this session was outside with no clouds. I'll shoot some later, I really need this thing shooting about 950-960 fps. I'm gonna try & get pigs with it in a couple of weeks.

I have about the same amount through mine. I'll check it later & maybe up the hammer spring a little to get it back where I need it.

idk what he means by pigs but if he means feral hogs sometimes .223 won't stop them. You couldn't convince me to hunt em with the baddest airgun available.

I think at 15 yards I should be able to drop them. I have my bow stand that I will be hunting them out of. I've dropped them at 50-60yrds with my .17hmr & 100yrds with my .22 mag. I think it it's all about shot placement. The perfect shot is between the eye & ear there's a some what of a soft spot there. I figure if a .17hmr ballistic tip could punch through it my 31 fpe should be enough. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't doubt that the gun will kill it with a good shot. It's just the off chance you miss or don't kill and the pig charges. If you're in a bow stand that puts you out of the danger though. I wouldn't ever hunt them on the ground without a semi auto powder burner.
