Didn't know where to put this post so I just threw it in here moderators feel free to toss it around so I can get the best help possible :o
I went to go check out LW barrels because I've heard they are amazing and seen how great they are. I just want to know if the standard rifled ones are better than the polygon ones or vice versa? Also how do you order custom lengths? For my 2240 I would want a 14 to 18 inch barrel so it isn't unwieldy. Is it worth the cost or is a barrel from Crosman going to do just fine for plinking and hunting?
-
For plinking and hunting the Crosman barrels are just fine,,,,,,,,if the crown and end of the rifling is good. The LW's are a premium barrel and rather pricey for making a short plinker. For a shorter premium barrel the TJ's are available in 7/16 OD at whatever reasonable length desired. Just crown, chamber, and drill a T-port.
-
Thank ya Bart trying to make a 2240 into a hunting carbine smaller than 35" and right now I have 6" of baffling a shroud and a breech from BNM coming in with an 8" barrel on the 2240 and I'll do some chrony testing then go from there. Total length with the 14" shroud 12" stock and breech will be around 30".

If you want to know how to get a LW barrel and the cost here`s the link http://www.lothar-walther.com/454.php (http://www.lothar-walther.com/454.php) and you`ll see how outrageous they cost $112 for a 23.8" barrel and you have to cut it and then put in the TP port and lead. Oh and i forgot you have to turn the barrel down to fit your 2240

Wow alright that's annoying. Too much time and money for this project mainly due to the fact that this will be a backyard pest control gun. For a field work hunting gun I'm looking at the AirForce EscapeUL in .25 that thing is slinging 25.39 grain pellets at 1041 fps for a total of 61 FPE in a 33" long rifle!!!
-
look into daisy 853 replacement barrels you would still have to cut it down and do the t port and such but it has 12 lands and grooves instead of 10 and is choked which makes it less pellet picky...
I think the are about $70...
-
Oh also I am downsizing my 1325 to .22 for now and just ordered a 2260se-001 barrel from Crosman. they have gone up $10 in the last 6 months.
They charged me $28 for it the one I got 6 months ago was $18...
I forgot above the daisy barrel is .177 And you are wanting a.22 barrel...

you would be better off to go with a condor with the same 18" barrel as the escape ul
WAY WAY better shot count, and can get the blue or red frames which isnt offered on the escapes
R&L lets you swap barrels when you order a condor,
when i ordered mine i told randy id rather have an 18" in it instead of the 24"
no prob he said, and it knocked a little off the price too.
my condor with an 18" is 32" without the r&l shroud, with the shroud its almost 38"
and either way,you are still going to have to slow them down,
jsb kings didnt start shooting well for me until i got them down into the 960's
just something to think about ;D

How much off the price? I like black. If it's $200 off the price then sure I would do it lol then again I would want the SS instead due to the shroud and then it's only hitting a max of 900 FPS. $617.50 for just the rifle from PA with Condor power in Talon size. For an Air Venturi G4 pump, the adapter to fit the Spin-Loc tank, an AirForce 4-16x50 AO Rifle Scope, Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 1" Tube scope, rings for the scope, and the gun it is $946.00. The Condor SS with all the same accessories? $1,022.00!!

X2---the Escape just isn't worth it to me for the lousy shot count.

not sure where youre getting that the condor ss is only hitting 900fps?
the condor ss has the same 18" barrel as the escape ul,
i had to run my condor with 18" barrel with the power wheel on 1,
and put an oring behind the tophat to even get jsb kings down to 960 and even that was too fast.
ended up with benji domes (28ish gns) at around 920 with superb accuracy.
both guns will throw pellets supersonic,
but pellets dont like going over 1000fps anyway, unless you like shotgun groups LOL ;)
so shot count is the biggest factor,
considering the big difference in the size of the tanks.
maybe 10 good shots from the escape compared to 30ish for the condor,
now if you have a tank this is no big deal,
but if youre pumping you would get more shots between pumping sessions.
just my .02 :)

If you use the ORing mod the Condor easily get 60 shots power level 4 from 928 to 958 & back to 928. The Talon Pistol at power level 8 with O-Ring mod will get 11 shots Avg 880 FPS with 43.71 FPE. The Talon Pistol is easy to hand pump, the Condor really need a SCBA tank. JMHO

Sounds average. I'll get a slightly longer barrel/shroud combo but again trying to keep it sub 35"
