I ordered a HW50S from PA $329 less 10%, free shipping and 2X Bullseye Bucks. Not a bad deal. Due here Saturday! Wanted something a little different in the collection. Going to use the open sights and she should be a good winter basement shooter. Does anyone know if all of the recent HW50s's have been coming through with the factory installed cocking arm insert. Or should I look to order one to prevent galling the compression cylinder? Interested in your comments, likes and dislikes on the gun and refurbished from PA. So post away my friends. :D

I saw on the Yellow that the newer 50S does have an insert. No telling how new yours will be being a refurb.
I just had a GREAT experience buying an R9 refurb from PA. I posted about it on the yellow.

My experience with the R9 suggests that it's at least possible yours will come with a mounted scope. What a bonus that was.
Anyways if the condition of your 50S is anything like the condition of my R9 you are going to be very happy.
Let us know how it all turns out,

Ah, I just looked and it appears that PA does not offer the 50S in the "Elite Combo" so I guess that a scope is out for you. Sorry.
Also I'm wondering how you got 10% off since they say "no coupons allowed" for the 50S refurbs??? Do you have a special coupon???

Mark N, Thanks for the encouragement. I was a little bit shy in ordering a refurbished. But, felt for the price difference I could live with a mark or two. Might want to double check the site again. I just did and found no restriction on the coupon. They have one left. I used their current FREEDOM-2014. I'll post a report when I get it tomorrow. It's here ready for delivery. Would have had it today except for it being the 4th. Happy Fourth of July to Everyone!!! Scott

Hey Scott - I see you have the 34 I am interested in (sorry to shift gears). How hard was it to put in the Vortek? Am really considering the 34 before the PA sale is over.
-
Hey Scott,
Just remember that you can have 30 days to return the rifle if it's not to your liking. You would be out shipping charges but I think it's worth the risks. I'm betting you won't be able to tell the rifle from new. Let's hear it when you get it.
I'm a little jealous I would like to own a 50S. I do have a D350 on the way though and like you have to wait an extra day because of the holiday. Scheduled to arrive Tuesday.

Hey Marc,
I love my D34 and find them easy to work on. Plenty of online help with those. Definitely helps to have a spring compressor and a couple of slave pins for the trigger mechanism.
Just trying to be an enabler... :D

Marc,

Marc, As Mark says. Very easy to work on with some simple tools. I did build a spring compressor from basic plans here or on other AG websights. I did one of the ones with a cut off C-clamp and wood scraps around the shop. Once you do it you can take them apart in a matter of minutes. With a de-burr, lube and Vortec she shoots smooth and just a whack when fired. I say "jump on the sale" and enjoy a real fine gun for a reasonable price. She shoots at 14.5 FPE with a wide variety of pellets.

I also bought a refurb from PA. A Pro Sport and I dealt with Tyler P. He sent one that had some nasty marks on it. Found me another, test fired it, gave me chrony numbers, e mailed me pics, took the other back with no hesitation and I have been thrilled ever since with this gorgeous rifle!
Tyler did this on his own time and kept in touch answering all my annoying questions!
Saved over $300!!
Any concerns with the rifle will be handled. Best CS by far!
Enjoy the new girl and report back.....with pics of course!!!

Hey Buddy,
I know what you mean "hurry up fedex". This is great weekend for savings but terrible for shipping.
I bought "total impulse" don't even have an extra gun to mount it. With that said Thursday, got email from AOA showing Hawke Eclipse scope 6x24x50 for $209.99 I think that is an awesome VALUE. They seem to run $279 to $299 everywhere else. Reviews looked positive,
The sales person said they had cases of them. So if anyone else wants to grab one, they have two models 4x16x50 $199, I think, and the 6x24x50. Eclipses. Oh, RWS 350 for $249 in .177, not sure if that is good? Then the wait begins, they don't ship until Monday, lol.
Be well

I have one of each Gator!
Great scope and you're gonna love it!
Very cool reticle!
If you want a side wheel for it there are a couple of guys that make them.
Enjoy!!

What a great little rifle! Looked her over and only blemish I found was in the rt fore stock stippling. (picture). A bit of medium stain and it disappeared. Been working on settling my Father Inlaws home as he passed in March. So the chrony and shooting reports will be awhile. Overall tickled pink with it and going the refurbished route.

Thanks buddy,
I hope some other folks can grab one too.
BTW I have no need for one but that RWS 350 Magnum for $249 looks like $150 saving, great first shooter for someone with that price range. Good shooting in your 9 ball match. I always tried to get my kids and grand kids to save/invest half and whatever with the other.
Trust me, retirement ain't cheap. But you were so excited, go ahead and blow it on something fun,
Be Well
