I am looking for new springs to put in my sons prod to bring the FPS up a bit he wants to shot H&N 21.14 grainers. at 650fps. I keep telling him the shot is going to drop a lot but he insist that he wants it. We do a lot hutting and he sees me dropping game at 80 yards with my condor. He is not big enough for a heavier gun so maybe springs will help him out for a while and a small carbon bottle so we are pumping all the time. Recommendations for a place to get springs would be awesome unless you know a better option. Transfer port maybe ? I do not want to alter in anyway that I cannot use original port if want to put it back in.

Buy another transfer port and drill it out to , and pick up a spring the same size with a -.41-.047 wire size. Lots of P-Rod info on the marauder site.

Why?
There is no way to make a short barreled P-Rod shoot nearly as fast as a full sized rifle, and his 650/21gr tune is pretty warm for a P-Rod as it is. Does come a point where the short barrel is the limitation, no matter how much more air you blast through the barrel, it's not going to pick up speed proportionally.
Basically, speec costs air, which costs shot count.
Just let him shoot the shorter range twitchy ones, and you shoot the long range oblivious ones, and at the end of the day should both be happy.

You won't get that power with just a spring change. You will need the larger TP as well.
Research BStaley Hammer Buffer or BHB. It works very well in a Prod, with a 0.110" TP and heavier hammer spring, and will help with shot count.
At that power, probably means only 16 shot strings. Drop down to 600 fps and get three mags.
FWIW: The BM match pellets didn't work well in my Prod barrel. Are they shooting well at your current fps?

Welcome to the GTA.

You all make good points, I appreciate the candor of your advise. I will share it with my boy and see if he is willing to hang in there until he is strong enough to handle a Talon SS.

My Double tube Prod gets 24 good shot fro a low of 806.51 to a high of 823.03 giving me an average of 823.03 with 22 FPE. 3000 PSI Fill
ending at 2400 PSI and all shots were within 3%
Transfer port drilled out to .110 and using a heavy spring.
I know it is a Double tube but even if it was not it would get that same performance for 12 shots. Plenty of shots for a hunting setup and just fill it up for another 12 shots

Norm...
807 + 823 = 1630 divided by 2 = 815 average..

Frank there's 22 other shots in the string that get calculated in. It is not just those two shots that the average was based on. I may not have been made that clear in the 1st post.
The Chrony printout gives the Low, High and Average and those were the #'s I included in the post. I could have given the complete Excel spreadsheet printout, which matches the Chrony printout but did not have the time.

Norm,
You made that perfectly clear but your average cannot be the same as your high number if "ANY" of the 24 is below that number!
You must have miss-typed your numbers and had a number in the string higher than 823.03...
-
Shooterr, that's a great Idea ! looking at it the weight and power level of the Disco would put him in the area he wants. Not to mention the added bonus of adding an iconic airgun to the collection. :-*
-
Frank you are 100 % correct the high should have been 832.81 not 823.03. I put the average FPS in for the high by mistake
I did not notice that before but your last post pointed me in the correct direction!
Thanks

Thanks, I do think your son would really like it...as well as you. Discoveries remind me of my first .22 rimfire that was a 1920 something Springfield single shot. A very fun rifle !

Shooterr I hope you will check out http://discosrus.net/pcp-airguns/ (http://discosrus.net/pcp-airguns/) if you decide to get a Discovery

You guys keep sending links to all this great info ! I really appreciate it and find it so cool to connect to other air gunners. I keep getting flack from friends about spending $$$ on air guns but none of them can go out back for an hour everyday and shoot ! Then We go out hunting and I outshoot them all !! Who is silly now !! Anyway love the insight on the PRod you are all spending my money faster than I can make it HA HA ! Love that Disco site I think the double prod kit and maybe just a small transfer port drill out will make my boy very happy and the wife none the wiser because no new guns are in the safe LOL ! The boys Birthday is next month that Disco is looking like a good option instead of a cell phone to not so good the life from him.
:o ;D
