Title: Some 30 yard targets with at44
Post by: c2k5 on June 25, 2014, 10:19:08 PM
Finally got around to getting a bench setup to do some stable shots. Here are 4, 5 shot groups at 30 yards. Every one can be covered with a dime except the middle right, the farthest left pellet hangs out abit. Very accurate $330 rifle. It's a .22 cal, shooting 21.14 grain Kodiak extra heavy pellets. 900 fps with 38 ft/ibs.

People get the wrong idea when we praise our Hatsans and then talk about doing mods to improve them. The haters say if it is such a great gun why do you need to mod it? Those groups are typical of an untouched Hatsan straight from the box and the only reason i touched my guns and re crowned and modded the valve was to squeeze the already tight groups even tighter. With a little clean up of the crown, magazine polishing and polishing the lead and port in the barrel the group will not have the one pellet that opens up from the rest like these targets instead it will be one ragged hole. For under $400 you get very tight groups consistently and for 30 min of youre time you get an absolute tack driver ;D

I just shot this 23 yard 5 shot group cause thats all I got here at home.. I am still working with the regulator that i got from Roy , man it keeps it at a es of 10 or less. without it I was at a es of 13 still great for a plain tuned rifle....

No need to waste money on those pellets. Mine shoots like that at 55 yds with crosman ultra mags and CPHP. Try them maybe you get lucky. One day the ultra mags shoot a little tighter then the HP's next day Hp's shoot better

I shot cphps at first and they did alright but then the accuracy went bad with them. With Crosman pellets you never get the "same" tin twice. Velocity with the 14.3 grain cphps is 1000fps and with the 21.14 Kodiaks it's 900, the Kodiaks give an extra 7 ft/ibs of energy.

That's pretty good shooting. Mine was like that out of the box. It only got tighter as I put more pellets through it. Then I did a recrown & got better. Mine likes the jsbs 18 & the Kodiak 21 grain pellets the best. I recently did some 100 yrs shots & it grouped ok, but I was on a folding table & bipod. Had my 7yr old son hitting a 4" pan at 100yrds. Then I took out coke can at 115yrds. I was excited about how well it shot at that distance. Here's a couple of pic of the 75yrd target & 100yrd target.

On the 75yrd target the three shots on the bottom left were the first fired. I don't know what happened after that. I think I got a little worked up seeing a three shot group that size at 75yrds.

Man those are some awesome groups that far. I'm hoping to get some shooting done that far pretty soon. Here's a 10 shot group at 52 yards. One good thing about living in a semi desert area is the hundreds of free targets that grow.

Almost covered by a dime, looks like 2 shots escaped

I'm hoping it will group a little tighter, still only about 175-200 pellets down the tube.

I am able to get a.600 group at 73 yards after re crown. My ES was 13fps shooting 18.13 JSB .... for very little effort that rifle Erik do awesome things! I have not shooting far groups yet with the regulator, but the ES is even better.

I got the machete out and cleared out some cactus and mesquite trees and my backyard range is now 62 yards from the muzzle of the barrel to the target. 6 shots, 4 touching 2 are out. I'm not for sure if they're flyers or the wind died down when I took the shot, it was blowing about 10 mph. My pellets are starting to drop pretty good at this range. I was aiming about 3 inches high for these shots. I'm not very good at holding over for an air rifle or doping for wind, never had a rifle that could touch out this far accurately so it's a learning experience. Hopefully tomorrow won't be so windy and I'll have another 15 yards of brush cleared out for some 75 yard shots. It's tough work lol. My first group was right after I finished chopping and it was about a 2.5 inch group from me trying to shoot while huffing and puffing, it's not pictured lol.

Out the box with a gun that you are not use to yet! That's a very good group! And will get better

Only ran 2 pellet types through it as well. I have 4 tins coming in Tuesday from PA, I don't know if they'll shoot any better but it's worth a shot. These Kodiaks are doing pretty great I gotta say, but it never hurts to try something else, who knows if it can shoot even better. I love that it shoots great out of the box. I'd like to detune it to around 20fpe and get some more shots, but I really don't want to touch anything on the rifle with how it's shooting.
