How many have an adjustable PCP and have done no tuning? I got my Marauder about two weeks ago and so far I have no plans to change anything. Anyone else just running it stock?
-
I ran my Marauder untuned, until I sold it. My Cricket is still at factory settings, and staying that way too.
-
The two .22 and the .25 mrods we have are stock actions with one .22 having custom stock work done. I have modded the .177 for 12 fpe field targets. They all shooting great too.

I don't go to far doing things as all that I have brought have been accurate which is the most important thing to me, then comes consistancy.
my s510, done nothing
mrod's, done nothing
R10, adjust reg and hammerspring (raise fps)
hw100 adjust hammerspring (lower fps) didn't have to do that honestly
rainstorm WP tune, new trigger, shroud & baffles, regulator, replace hammerspring)
theoben nothing
I follow that old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Taking a mental inventory, have to say "none" if you include trigger adjustments.
A couple have only had their triggers adjusted (with the supplied adjustments).
About 1/2 of the others have been tuned with only supplied adjustments adjusted. Some were made to shoot faster, most made to shoot slower, but about 1/2 of them are unmodded (just adjusted).
Which leaves the others, which got mods done/parts made/parts bought/etc.
Reminded of a saying (often heard in orthopedics) that is a pretty good reason for not fooling around with what is working well: "The enemy of "good" is "perfect". Have also heard it as the 4-5-3 rule (as in 4 star, 5 star, 3 star). Meaning that in fiddling around to get all of what you want are likely to end up with less than you have now.

I have only adjusted the triggers. My PCPs shoot so well with accuracy, power and shot count...I'm not touching a thing ! I suppose I could get them better, but my such a small amount, why bother ? Usually spend my time shooting like tonight, my buddy and I were shooting tin cans and rotten apples on sticks at 100 yds. and calling our shots on where we were going to hit them. Then getting bored and shooting dandelion heads off !

I just have to tinker with everything!! Why you ask? Because you can, one of many things I know about Marauders is none of them are the same out of the box.I shot mine for the first several months and then decided I wanted to learn how to tune it.Lots of trial and error but well worth the lesson.I have adjusted the trigger too although it was pretty good from the factory. 8)

Did you at least chrony a string to see what you got?
I have tuned dozens of Marauders and only saw one that had a decent tune from the factory and I think that was just by accidental luck. And you still need to chrony a string to see where to fill and how many good shots you can get per fill.
I just chronied Tri-Ron daughter's bone stock 22 Marauder and the shot string was strictly decreasing from a fill of 3100 psi, so the hammer energy is rediculously high. The first (10 shot) magazine started at 946 then rapidly declined to 909 for an extreme spread of 37 FPS over 10 shots! I would hardly call that even usable.
In less than half an hour, I tuned it so now it is getting over 30 shots within 25 FPS extreme spread from a 2700 fill at a peak of 910 FPS. And it is much quieter now too....

I didn't use a chronograph. I filled it to 3,000 PSI, then I shot from a rest and counted the shots until my group opened up. I got 57 shots before I had any pellets begin to stray.

That works if you're not shooting very far or maybe a 177 caliber. How far away was your target for this test and what caliber were you shooting?

I was shooting a .177 cal at 26 yards.

I don't know.
You have to ask Motorhead what he did.
That said, I did nothing until the rifle was out of warranty.
I gave Motorhead Carte Blanc and he did his thing.
Now...70+ shots on 3000 psi fill until the pressure falls off the regulator at 2000 psi.
925fps with 10.5 Crosman.
19.5fpe...

I try to have everything tuned. :) That is if I can afford it. My TX200MK3, Both D-34 (sold now), MROD .25 professionally tuned (also sold). I bought a Disco already tuned, was told it was pellet picky. I cleaned the barrel, lubed the barrel & pellets and have about 4 or 5 different pellets it shoots great. I just want to slow the speed more and can't. Both my Air Force guns I put a poor man's regulator in (Condor gets 60 shots @ 928 to 958). MROD .22 sent off for a professional tune (Best $100 spent). I will send my Recluse off as soon as finances will let me.
Guns may be good out of the box, but with professional pixie dust the can be really good.
