I finished installing a 1701P trigger assembly on my 2289 this morning and quickly sighted the gun. Didn't need much but I did have to disassemble it significantly to replace the weight and pin. I have not made any adjustments to the 1701P frame as it came from Crosman. The trigger is light compared to stock 13xx! Turn off safety, set your aim and touch that sucker and it fires.
I'm very happy with it at this point but need to learn what the adjustments to, and whether or not they would improve it over how it is now for me. One thing I plan to remove or thread-in is the set screw under the trigger guard, at least for now. The blade does not touch it anyway and Crosman leaves it threaded out 1/8th inch or so which is somewhat hazardous.
Pics coming soon.

I want one for my .25 carbine. Can you post some pics? How smooth is the action?

It's a huge improvement over the standard Crosman13/22xx trigger. Here is a picture.

Going to get one...and a whole butt-load of other parts. Ordering my 1/4" riser and .357 barrel tonight. So now I will be put into a new 'tax bracket'...big bore here I come. Going to order some ammo, too.

Thanks for the closeup.
Here's the completed gun.
e-clips are copper plated on the pivot pin.
Have not drilled and tapped the bottom of the trigger frame yet to install lower screw but I will soon.

At first I thought it was like a 13xx trigger frame with a really light sear spring but after shooting it a short while, I realize it's not. Not only is it a much shorter pull, at least out of the box from Crosman anyway, but there's no drag felt from the sear scrapping off the notch in the weight or the trigger bump on the underside of the sear like a 13xx.
It's almost like a switch now - just press it lightly and it fires. Pretty cool but takes some getting used to.
My hammer weight filling method:
- Degreased a brand new weight
- Duck tape on the rear portion of the weight just shy of the notch and chucked it in my mini lathe
- Course emery on the notch area to help bonding of the JB
- Removed from lathe and applied healthy coat of JB weld followed by scotch tape wrapped on the outside to prevent drips and runs. The slow set stuff is very runny for quite awhile
- First sanding removes tape - course emery again
- Second coat lighter and applied with a flat stick followed by 150 grit sand paper
- Third and fourth coats very light filling depressions and dents and scraped even and smooth using a razor blade while the epoxy is wet
Action wise it's quite smooth and cocking the gun feels same as before.
I did apply assembly lube to the weight which seems to work well for me.

I've installed 5 or 6 1701P trigger groups on vairous 13xx/22xx guns and never felt the need to adjust them from factory settings. I like a reasonably long first stage with a definite stopping point before the final let off point. The triggers from the factory are set like that.
