Title: Older Crosman 1400 repair
Post by: mtsheron70 on May 23, 2014, 09:53:59 PM
Well I am a German springer tuner but a family member has a old Crosman 1400 that does not hold air so I am taking a stab at rebuilding the valve and seals and branching out a bit from my comfort zone.

So with no expectation from the family member I embark on a 1400 with a rebuild kit on the way to see if I can be of success in this realm of airgun tuning.

The main tools needed are a dental pick and a tooth pick.   They are the tools needed to remove and replace the Quad ring seal in the valve cap.   The dental pick for removal and the tooth pick to coax the blasted Q-ring into place without damage.

I see your signature line you have one.  Did you rebuild it?  I may need some expertise in this before I am done.

This vid is where I learned to replace the Quad ring in the exhaust valve on my 1300 I was rebuilding.

Yes, I have resealed it.  It also now uses the 130-036 and 1322A026 transfer port combo.     The porting is now ~.150" dia.    The check valve spring is much lighter and the piston wears an O-ring  .  It pushes 14.3 CPHP's ~700fps.     This post (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=25728) and others were some of the guides.

Why did Crosman make the air pump plunger without being able to screw off the end brass capp where the cup is I will never know!

Thank goodness Bryan & Assoc. sells them!

Hopefully this baby will come in and I can put this rifle back together and get it to hold air.
