Greetings All,
I just got an Xisico XS60C PCP in .177 to play around with and was wondering about filling options other then a hand pump. I saw Bob’s (rsterne) great series on this rifle where he mentions using a 48/3000 paintball tank regulated to 1500 PSI output. I’ve searched the internet and can’t find a 1500 PSI output regulator. I’ve found 800, 1000, 1200, 1800 and 2000 but no 1500 regulators.
Several questions: can I get a 1800 psi regulator and reset it to 1500 taking out a shim or two? Would it be better to get a 1200 psi regulated bottle and add shims to 1500? Do I need some method of bleeding the line after filling or can I just pop of the quick release foster fitting? (I’ve never used a paintball tank before).
I have a 70 CF 4500 psi SCBA tank I use for my other PCP’s and the tank does have an output gauge but I’m a little reluctant to use it since I’d have to be real careful about turning it off at the right pressure (1500 psi).
My third question is: does someone make a 1500 psi output regulator that can be attached “in-line” between the 4500 psi tank and the high pressure hose (with quick release female Foster fittings?)
Sorry for the long post but I’m not familiar with paintball tanks and regulators. I may even be asking the wrong question. If anyone knows where to find a 1500 psi output regulator for a paintball tank or how to modify a 1200 or 1800 regulator, I’d be very grateful. Thank you.

No, you can't pop off a Foster under pressure, you need a way to bleed the hose.... You can either remove shims from an 1800 or add them to a 1200 to get to 1500.... You should make sure that the output side of the regulator has a 1.8K burst disc for filling an FD-PCP.... I am not aware of an inline regulator, but one from a tank can be modified to be inline by plugging the part that mounts into the tank....

Thanks for the reply Bob and thanks for the great series you wrote on the XS60C. What kind of an air bleeding system did you put on the 48/3000 tank you mentioned in your article?

If you've got a local paintball shop see if they can get it for you. Mine custom ordered a 42/3000 with a 1400psi reg, but I forgot to specify the 1.8k burst disk. Still, $109 + tax is a dang good price.
Ninja has a great little slide check. Install at the QC end and it only vents that little bit.

I got it in a complete setup.

But wish I had a longer line on it.

Thanks for the information Marty. If I understand correctly, the "slide check" acts as a bleeder valve. It is attached to the end of the air line and connects to the female Foster quick connect which is at the end of the line and connects to the rifle. This sounds like what I need along with a tank and 1500 PSI regulator.
If I can can't find or modify to a 1500 psi regulator, I'll try my local paintball shop like you suggested. I'm new to PCP's and know nothing of paintball stuff so the information from you and Bob has been very helpful.
Thanks, Mike

Mike, that's exactly what it is. When you open the slide check, it closes the line to the tank and vents the pressure in the female foster QC. You just have to be careful not to close it with the tank on and no rifle hooked up. Your air straight out the end.
JdsAirman is having a May sale, so you'd better move quick. I try to support my local businesses when the pricing is reasonable. And they were in this case. They actually advertised same price as the internet shops.

I haven't used a Ninja slide-check, but the Chinese one I bought, if you moved the slide check to bleed off the line between the slide check and the ASA valve on the tank, it blew the O-ring on the QD side (output) by trying to extrude it into the transfer hole.... It did this every time, whether on HPA or CO2.... When that area is under pressure, and the flow is in the opposite direction (out of the QD) it was not a problem, but it meant that you could not bleed the hose to remove the ASA from the tank....
I built a simple bleed valve as per this thread to avoid the issue.... http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=66646. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=66646.)

Once you get the tank and regulator, you need one of these:

Turn the knob clockwise and you will fill the gun. Screw it counterclockwise and once the tank value is closed, it bleeds the line to the gun. Very compact.
