Title: Massive Titanium air tube for kicks.
Post by: csdilligaf on May 21, 2014, 12:43:04 PM
Had a little spare time to make this tube.  Its way over kill.  2" dia with .187" wall and 20" long, 680cc.  At 4500 psi it has a safety factor of 4.4 to yield.  Should make a good air supply for a .30 cal bench gun.  The reg will be done by Dan Brown, He needed something bigger than my other tubes to fit all the reg goodies in for his newew design.  I hydro'd it to 9000 psi.  It grew .003" and returned fine.  The math says it will burst at 23,500 psi.  Wish I could get a video of that!

I have a 30 cal barrel from Rock Mountian rifle works that he did for me and working on Sumo II right now so I think that the AOA shoot should be a good goal.

What grade Ti is that? and where did you get it if I may ask?

I really got to get a larger lathe :-)

Can't answer for Chip but Titanium Joe's has a nice selection of Grade 9 tubing.  www.titaniumjoe.com (http://www.titaniumjoe.com)

Very nice but pricy I expect? 180-200$ for the tube?

Should give a ton of shots at 12 ftlb in .177.   Lol

Yes, TiJoe is the place for grade 9 and it was about $200.  Got it sitting in a gun now and seems to have endless shot count.

Can you imagine regulating this tube to 12 fpe? 500+ shots if you can keep an efficiency of .65 or higher. Should be doable... O.o

What is the weight?

Yeah what does it weigh? Do you have any weights of the various bottles and tubes. The new carbon bottles from Daystatelook nice can't find any weight comparisons.

Sorry  for the long delay.  Life can get hectic in a one man shop.  This monster weighs in at 5 lb 1 oz.  That is as much as some airguns.   But it is intended for an Open class bench rester that can tip the scale at 25 lb and it does that.  It has a custom Dan Brown reg in it that uses a large die spring rather than Bellville washers.  Works beyond my expectations.
