Title: Pic-rail on a 880 ?
Post by: Wolfdog91 on May 03, 2014, 11:19:34 PM
Would a pic rail molded on an 880 instead  of a standard dove tail increase accuracy ? what would be a good way to add one with out having a whole new reviver made ?

I do not see how it would. Mine is dead on accurate to 25 yards with the std scope mount and plastic receiver

I mounted a red dot on my 880, and added a 11mm to Picatinny adapter for the correct height.  You could go that route.

No, it would not increase the accuracy, the receiver is a separate piece from the outer barrel, and also from the actual inner rifled barrel.

Adding the rail would not change any of that, the best you could do, would be to reduce the amount of flex or play between these 3 pieces.

A good 1 piece scope mount will grip that dovetail well.

and make loading a pellet really really difficult.

I am finding that on my Daisy 880's and Daisy 901 that using a True Glow Red Dot mounted infront of the loading port works best at up to about 50 yards.   These are very accurate guns at out to about 70 yards, and at that short of a range a scope hurts more than helps, so a good Dot Sight is ideal for these guns.

As far as the issue of getting everything stable:
Just do the normal tape the barrel (on a 880), make sure that all of the screws are snug though not tight and you should have no issues.

See the problem with the 880 is that the dove tail is on one side of the receiver in stead of half on one side and half on the other like say a 2100.

mounting a scope is easy peasy IF you purchase the correct style rings. IF you use round bottom rings you are going to have a bad time. You want these, or at least this style : https://www.pyramydair.com/product/leapers-accushot-1-rings-medium-3-8-dovetail-4-screws-cap?a=793 (https://www.pyramydair.com/product/leapers-accushot-1-rings-medium-3-8-dovetail-4-screws-cap?a=793)

I have yet to yet a red dot that I like. So for me my AG's are either open sights or scoped.
