Title: Daisy 880 experts/owners please read - wiper and bolt
Post by: BigTinBoat on May 01, 2014, 07:21:34 AM
After my 880 resurrection last night I had a question about the "purpose" of the Foam wiper and whether or not it is needed. (Mine crumpled upon dis-assembly) I found one of Ebay and they are really proud of them. It got me thinking - My 1389 is a very similar gun (MSP) but it does not have a wiper. What does the wiper "actually" do and is it needed? I was thinking maybe I could make one out of some foam insulation. Can probably get 2 packs for the price of just that 1 wiper.

Also I broke (and then crazy glued) the plastic bolt. When I found a new on on Ebay I realized that mine no longer has the metal insert in the end. I know one purpose of this metal rod is to keep the BB's from rolling out the barrel (it magnetized) but since I don't shot BB's this function is not needed. Does the metal rod do anything else? Like seat the pellet a bit deeper? If so I guess I'll be ordering a new bolt, or making a new metal rod.
IF I have to make the rod can someone measure and tell be how far the rod extends out from the plastic part of the bolt.

Thanks for your help

Email Daisy and order the correct parts. They will send you a parts list similar to the ones Crosman has online. Then order the correct parts.

Yes you need the wiper. While similar to your 1389 in design it is not the exact same design. I see no reason why you could not make one.

The piece you are missing also correctly seats the pellet. I'm sure you could fab this up as well if need be.

The correct parts should only be a few dollars from Daisy.

In the last few months someone just ordered a bolt from Daisy, a search should bring it up.
