Here is a great video to help those old and new to the sport understand the 2 way recoil and movement that occurs when firing a spring piston gas ram airgun. The gun used is a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. If you watch the video, you can see the gun recoil rearward at first. Then the gun clearly jumps forward before the BB exists the barrel. It is this 2 way movement before the projectile exits that affects scopes and accuracy. Now this is a low powered gun, but even it shows the 2 way recoil.

Interesting, I failed to notice the initial rearwards recoil at first. Only watching the video a second time and looking closely for it I saw it happen. I wonder if the forward recoil is stronger in a similar ratio with magnums too? If it is no wonder they eat scopes for snacks.
