Title: What yardage do most site in there 25 cal.
Post by: SniperM on April 28, 2014, 10:26:22 PM
I have the crickets in 25 cal. one is the tactical bullpup and the Cricket Rifle and I love both. I was wondering what site in yardage do most of you all use. Currently I have mine sited in at 35 yrds. Iam using the 6.5x20 Hawk Sidewinder 30's.

i myself zero all my pcps for 50yds,

between the 20ish yard near zero,to the top of the trajectory (for me about 30yds for my marauder and about 34yds for my condor)

i only have to hold under slightly.

plus it extends the range of your last aim point.

Thanks for the relpy makes sense, now that I have a nice thin mil reticle the longer shots can be alot nore precise. The Cricket will group dime size groups at 50yds.

If you know the approx FPS of your rifle, you can get great help by downloading CHAIRGUN PRO.   You can then play with different ranges and chart your pellet trajectory.  You can establish a "Kill Zone Window" to simplify holdover/under, and find your 1st and 2nd Zero yardages.  You can also see drop, FPE, etc  information.  Very Good Tool for the airgunner.  Hope this helps and G'Luck ;)

I was sighted in at 35 yards and moved down to 25 yards this past Sunday.

Chairgun is awesome! For the shooting I am doing now that is what will work best for me.

Typically I use the recommendation of ChairGun to achieve a kill zone of 1/2" (1/4" above or below line of sight), which usually ends up between 35-40 yards, and allows a "point blank" hold out to 40-45 yards and then I use the MilDots after that....

A lot of great advice from the fellows! Getting a .25 tomorrow... But I have .22 Concept zeroed at 50 yards, my .177 Pneuma at 35 yards. It all depends really on your uses/ranges. I like the 50 yard zero for my .22 as it's nickel accuracy at that range and bucks the wind better, but the Pneuma is a .177 so I feel a closer zero range is better (too many variables with .177 ie wind, range effectiveness). Bob has a good point on the optimal zero range.

I zero my .25 cal Cricket at 50 yards and with my current standard 4 mildot scope I have holdover points out to 100 yards at 15x. My sidewinder that should be in tomorrow though will give me holdover points out to 170 yards at 15x, its gonna         real fun  ;)

I sight all my rifles in at 32 yards. That is because my first fence from my porch is at 32 yards. The second fence is at 130 yards and my last target is at 90 yards. The only rifle I have a problem hitting 90 yards is the one that holds the Hawke MAP6 on it.

Odd man out?

I don't shoot things farther with the .25's, I just shoot bigger critters, so tend to sight them in the same as the smaller calibers.

All My guns are sighted in at 30 yards, that covers anything that comes into the crosshairs in between 20 to 50 yards :)

I like to use as much of my mil-dots as I can with my Marauder 25 with 16x scope using JSB Kings at 850fps tune.  First zero is 12yds and that puts me .8 of a dot high at 20yds, 1 dot high at 30yds, .75 dot high at 40 yards, second zero at 50yds, 1 dot low at 60yds and 2.5 dots low at 70 yards (the end of my back yard so have not measured poi any further). I did my measurements at the actual distances because I find chairgun to be off some to reality. I typed this on a small chart on computer paper taped to the bell of the scope so I wont forget my hold over or under. Focus my AO scope and read my yardage and use my mil-dot hold over chart. Its nice to take advantage of the mil-dot scopes with AO for range estimation.  I used to only use point blank of 1 inch but find it limits my range too much with the rainbow trajectories of air rifles.

Michael, I have the .25 cal Cricket Rifle with a 8-32X56 Hawke Sidewinder.
I have mine zeroed at 30 yds because most of my shooting is between 20 and 50 yds.
Now, I just cleared a 100 yd shooting lane this past weekend and was able to hit the 3 inch Shoot-n-C targets with relative ease at 100 yds. Even hit the bulls eye a few times.
I put the letter "D" at the bottom of the SR Pro-Reticle on the bulls eye of the target and it worked like a charm. I keep it on 24X power!
