Title: FWB 300S From Pilkington Competition
Post by: Rescue912 on April 22, 2014, 06:01:21 PM
I have a dozen things I should be working on (including that SSP project - sorry Mike) but picked one of these up from the ad on AA Classifieds. It was shooting right at 600FPS with some old Beeman pellets. This particular rifle had some freckling on the metal and a crack in the wrist but it shot fine.

The crack was completely through and it had been repaired at one point. I dremeled out the wood dowel holding it together and glued it back together fitting a stepped dowel made just for this in the reamed hole.

I rubbed it down with some 0000 steel wool and some Watco oil. I don't need for it to be perfect but I wanted rid of the goo from the match stickers that were on it and the scratches touched up. Stickers were removed before it made it to me or else I would have left them, I think it turned out pretty nice.

After pulling a few patches through, cleaning and lubing the barrel I mounted a period correct rear FWB diopter and shot a few groups. The group shown is 20 rounds of RWS Diabolo Basics at 10m. First sighter was high so adjusted 2 clicks. Same for second sighter so 2 more clicks then the next 20 went through one ragged hole.

Always wanted one of these but the price scared me off. For $120 I just couldn't pass it up. It has some warts on it but has to be the most accurate springer I have ever shot.

Very cool. Have a sight coming for mine, can't wait to do some testing.

Very nice rescue912, you have quite the shooter  ;D   600fps sounds pretty good too.  Starting the rebuild on mine, hope to have that 1 ragged hole at 10m in the near future.
