How many of you just hang around here to watch the listed of airguns in other member's signatures grow longer..... and longer?
I just started noticing the phenomenon a few days ago...hey! this AVATOR guy over here has gotten 3 new guns than last time I read is list...
and they're all FD-PCPs too!...(like I needed another form of endorsement twisting my arm to get an FD-PCP right?) and this other guy has picked up a 2289 AND another 2240....(I've been eyeballing the backpacker for ages now)....WOW look who get a new Cricket!....and softail got a freedom 8......and so on....Peer Pressure....sometimes it's not the blatant enabling and how to wheedle SWMBO that gets to you...it's the subtle things.
[EDIT] ACK, another p17!!
-
It's like the kid hauling all his toys around the neighborhood in his wagon for everyone to see the day after Christmas :)
-
;D No it is more like pride of ownership have you ever gone down to the model airplane field some of the more entrenched members have to bring their toys to the fields in trucks because the have more than plane to fly.
-
just another form of enabling. ;)
-
I list mine so that anyone who might be interested in the same type of guns can find a kindred spirit. Sometimes you also get offers to buy your stuff. Never hurts to have options! ;D
-
This is why I only list the ones that I use and modify the most :) .
I do not want to show off my entire collection (besides the 512 character limit in the sig would not come close to being enough room to list half of them).
Though I do list them in current order of preference, with the one I prefer most at the top of the list.
-
After reading this thread I decided to remove my list of toys. It really made me think, how many forum members think I'm a douche and I'm bragging? Well I'd rather not have that.
-

8) Used to be one of those guys! Still have my planes but dont get to fly em no more :(
-
The signature list isn't long enough to list all of my guns ;D
-
My list has gotten shorter. I had offers sold them and bought more bigger guns and air tanks. :) Next up is a freedom 8 so I do not have to travel for air. 8) I now reside on the dark side.
-
10% of most pages, is from posts / replies / etc, and the other 90% is from the lists of airguns (I am exaggerating of course..!!).. Not that I really cared but yes I have noticed...!!
Still good reading though...

Well Gunner Al I just can't let you have the last word.
I enjoy reading about what guns Charlie B has in his collection. Makes me feel comfortable that my affliction is not as bad as his. Apart from that it is interesting to see the mix of various people. Some of them are unfamiliar to me and I look up the guns to see what they are. I have never posted my collection because it is modest and my best doesn't hold a candle to what some people own but i get just as much fun and that is the crux.
The other assumption I make from what I see is that airgunners and motorcyclists have some traits in common. And then there are the senior citizens.
-
List changed ... Sold one 1 and added 1 ::)
Like that really matters ;D

Lokk at mine. :D They can't be worse than that. But I have fun with them like you.
Someday if funds permit it, I hope to get a Disco or an FD equivalent.

I stopped listing my airguns last year it was getting long and wondered what ppl were thinking as of now i have 4 rifles and 14 pistols ( to be 16 next week with a pair of Crosman 116`s coming) i do like reading what you guys have though :)
-

;D ;D Still waiting for the post and your personal review of that Fully Shrouded Condor .25 with 24" LW barrel ;) And although we have proven my memory is still intact, let me remind you that after convincing me that my memory was failing you promised me a picture of your son shooting said Condor as compensation ;) ;D ;D ;D

Yesterday it was so windy that we were shooting 2" to the left, and today it is raining. I did get a bird this morning. :)

I use these lists as tools. If I have a question about a gun or I am considering purchasing one, it's nice to see who may have one that I may be able to ask about it. You would be surprised at the new comers that message me and ask about a particular gun on my list. We've been into this airgun thing for about a year now and I have no idea where I would be without the knowledge and distant friendships I've gained from the GTA. It's a pleasure to try to give some of that back. Also, I really don't see much difference in posting a thread about how I took a squirrel out with a single headshot at 100 yds. and posting my meager collection. Yep, I'm totally proud of every one of them. As a matter of fact, I was going to modify it today. I picked up a '69 "tootsie roll" Benji 347 and Chinese break barrel that I still need to find out what it is. It's like a B2 but smaller, like a youth version. ???
-
I have only been here a short while, but the signature lines full of great "toys" was one of the first things I noticed, with a degree of envy. I need to add my springer and my Muzzy46. But that is all I have right now. Cannot justify the $$$ for more goodies!
Maybe Christmas . . . ;)
-
I still haven't listed mine here...
-
I like seeing the different guns listed under a members name myself. I don't think anyone is bragging that "I have more toys then you do". You can see who has a rifle or pistol that you own too, like avator said. I'm happy if a guy or gal has collection of guns, means their having a ball with their hobby/sport. Someday I hope to have a small collection to pass on to my son or daughters.
-
I used to list them all, now just list my favorites.
-
I listed some of mine because I could. Need more room for the collection of about 70+. Not enough characters remaining to list all of them. And this is only part of them. Why do we show our stuff? because we can. This hobby is addicting and before you know it, you are broke. :P :P :P
-
I like to see what people shoot. Also it gives context to what the person is saying and helps the reader get the full picture.
Also helps to spur on follow-up questions. For example if Manny takes a hog, i can ask why he used a particular rifle on that day, and how would things have been different with his other rifles.

Hello DavidS.
It is just not a fair go to make a statement like that and walk away. Please follow it up with a full length post listing all your guns and if possible with photos. Consider the positive side and how much pleasure you will give the rest of us. That doesn't even touch on the " my affliction is not as bad as his" satisfaction.
I suppose it would be too much of a task but may be good for your personal records.

I attempt not to show off. Though all of mine are MSP's. I do not feel like pulling out my back up guns to photograph them, though for the current list since you ask:
- 2 Crosman 2289g's, both modded and with 18 inch barrels. One at about 13FPE the other at 15.2FPE
- 5 Crosman 66's, two moded, one at 14.1FPE one at about 12FPE, the other 3 factory stock.
- 2 Daisy 880's. One at 12.6FPE the other at 12.4FPE.
- 2 Crosman 2100's. Factory stock, still in box.
- 2 other Crosman 2100's non-functional for parts.
- 2 Crosman 1322's, modded with 12 inch barrels, have not chronied.
- 1 Old 392, needs a reseal.
- 1 Old Blue Streak, needs a reseal
- 2 Crosman 760's with Rifled barrel, stock power
- 1 Crosman 760, HPA tube bulk conversion with rifled barrel, need a reseal. One of my old experements.
- 1 Crosman 760 smooth bore factory stock power.
- And a bunch of other failed experiments that function though not worth the time to pull out.
And I will never again attempt to show off like this, it is a bad feeling.[/list]
-
;D David it is more a source of information to the newer members with questions. When they see what you have and are looking in that direction, answers to those questions are easier to get when you can ask a member who owns one and has tinkered with them. All of my rifles were acquired after getting info from other members with the exception of my 880 and Gamo Whisper. I was also able to improve the performance of the Gamo With the guidance of fellow members thanks to their experience ( Bullit) to name 1 of many who responded to my questions

After reading this thread I decided to remove my list of toys. It really made me think, how many forum members think I'm a douche and I'm bragging? Well I'd rather not have that.
Mulby,
I complimented you on your list of toys a couple weeks ago and please know it was simply that, a compliment. Sorry if that made you uncomfortable, not my intent. If you never listed your toys I would never has recognized you as someone capable of making a comparison between the guns we talked about. Information that I would like very much. Just saying.
-
I personally really like reading people's lists! Some people have some really amazing air rifles!
-
David S:
Thanks for listing. It gives me an opportunity to ask a question. We bought a couple refurbished 2100 crosman rifles and I was wondering what mods and how easy it would be to do these mods. I really like the steel construction that crosman has maintained with these guns. It seems like everything else has morphed into cheap feeling plastic. I'm just sad that they don't have wood. You listed 2 of them in boxes and 2 for parts. What mods, if any, are you considering?

Well the newer 2100's have a long plastic piston like the 13xx guns just longer. So stuffing the piston with steal rod will work, you can also port the valve (be careful), and not much else for simple mods. There are a few mods that can be done with a lot of extra work.
I do plan on converting one of them to HPA (like I already did with a 760), by tube bulking and using the default valve (I will probably post a thread when I get around to that one).
What are your goals?
We may wish to continue this in a new thread in the Crosman section so we do not hijack this thread.
-
My airguns are listed so that those who might have a question about one of them, they may notice the list and ask. If I was shallow enough to use it as a bragging "look what I have and you don't" list, then I'd be shallow enough to lie and just pack my list with only the best rifles known to exist.

Never thought about it that way. Though there are still not enough characters available in the signature line to list all of them.
As you can see from my above post all of mine are low end MSP's because that is what I like. I have noticed that most do not like them though.
-
mine changes faster than I can update my profile....have had over 40 since the fun shoot last year :o as others have rifles just visit me......

I agree about a new thread. I was thinking more power and less pumping. I'll be looking forward to you mods. I don't have access to the equipment to do major mods like some people so, I look for the simple ones like stuffing pistons and such. Again, so as not to hijack this thread, I'll be waiting for yours. I too enjoy the lower end , self contained guns.

A perfect example of what the GTA is all about. It's a great tool for a group of people to share knowledge and experience with other people with the same interest and it promotes this industry to explore and expand which, in the end, benefits us all. It's great to know what you all have and what you have done to improve or personalize them. For me, it's not just about slinging projectiles downrange. I can do that with a straw and chewed up paper. It's about learning and seeing the results for myself... and maybe meeting a few cool people along the way.
-
;D I agree with what Avator said it is about tinkering with my rifles to see what I can do with them, meeting cool people and shooting all three work for me

Well every one got me to put a few more of my guns into my signature in case I can be of help to some one new to any of them.
-
It's like the kid hauling all his toys around the neighborhood in his wagon for everyone to see the day after Christmas :)
All a gun List is,..... a way to let you know what direction into airgunning an individual has taken,
the spectrum is huge, by having a list of your guns you let people know where you are in that spectrum
-
I reread this thread and think I may have started it down a path that I had not intended. My post was in jest and I put a smiley emoticon in an attempt to convey my joking. In all actuality, I enjoy seeing others obsessions :) I would put my modest collection in my sig but just haven't gotten around to it.
-
Ok, you guys have convinced me to post my airguns.
-
I ALMOST did not list the AG's I have for the very reasons many stated, but I have found that listing them has had other GTA members PM me with questions about a certain tuner or the AG and what I thought of it (pros and cons, etc.)
Also, that's how I ended up with the .25 M-rod. Philidor had "For Sale" behind it and I PM'd him and the rest is history.
So, in short, I have mine listed if anyone has a question. Mostly they have been about the QB-79 LOL!

~Snip~This hobby is addicting and before you know it, you are broke. :P :P :P
Well then I got a head start on you all!! I started out broke!! :P

To be fair I should reciprocate to PaulS so here is a list of my air rifles.
Some of them were given to me; some I bought second hand and some new. Most are .177..
Baikhal Fairly roughly made Russian and not very accurate.
Arrow Chinese underlever not accurate not reliable but haven’t got round to throwing it
away
Industry model 62. Struggles for accuracy but shoots 650 fps with a leather seal and extraordinarily
consistant but crude trigger. Nicely finished metal work for its class. I like it.
Crossman 1400 in .22. Not bad but needs new O rings.
Sharp Innova in .22. Accurate smooth shooter when you get used to the dump valve trigger.
Webley Rebel. Disappointing A cheap rifle that nearly made the grade but not quite.
Gamo CFX Accurate when working properly and after modification but a monument to
Poor design and construction.
Webley Tomohawk Made in Birmingham – England. Big, quite heavy, quite powerful, very well
made and finished. Accurate.
Hatsan 99. Considerably modified and now a nice smooth shooter with good accuracy.
Harsh before modification.
Weihrauch HW 77. One of the aristocrats of air rifles.
Weihrauch 95. Bought new and worth every cent. Just superb.
Diana 34 Compact. Slightly depowered and the standard heavy steel muzzle break replaced with a
lighter tight fitting delrin replacement. Challenges the Weihrauch with every
Shot.
Daisy 953 Home made aperture sights. Just amazes me how good plastic and die caste
can be. Thousands upon thousands of shots and still accurate.
Mondial Condorifle 27 shot BB Ah well- it fires.
Webley Senior pistol; Harsh firing but I hit the target sometimes.
Webley Typhoon Realy a Hatsan. Reasonably accurate for a spring pistol and good value for
$150 NZ. Too big to tuck in your belt.

I'd say no one "just hang around here to watch the listed of airguns in other member's signatures grow longer..... and longer?"
I come here to get advice, read about other air guns and post things I've learned about my air guns along the way.

Just today, a member asked me for input on a Slavia 634 that is listed in my signature. That is only one of a handful of times that it has happened.

Chuck I have also had several members ask about the rifles I have posted with questions about best pellet ,accuracy satisfaction and so on. So again pride of ownership and to help others who have questions about a particular girl in my harem ;D ;D ;D
