Received my HW45 Black Star .177 yesterday. Nice looking gun and stamped with HW quality. Trigger is crisp and light; Laminated grip is awesome.
Chrony it and had to stop at 8th shot because it was dieseling like *(&^. And the output was rising from 515 to 722fps! I decided to stop and cleaned her up.
Stripped, degreased and re-lube with moly paste and lubricant. Reassembled and put a few thru the chrony again. Power dropped from 722 to 495fps, ouch. It this normal? I didn't realize dieseling can increase so much more power. At least now the gun has less recoil and I know the internals will be save from excessive heat from dieseling. needless to say, I didn't have a good night sleep thinking about the power lost. But this gun is regulated at below 500fps, so I got what I paid for.
now I just need to put a few downrange and break her in. Hopefully in time I can shoot it and get great accuracy.
cheers

Not sure what pellets you're using but RWS Basics, Pistol Meisters, R10's etc. at 7.0 grains usually chrony around 560 to 575 FPS.
The FPE I've seen for .177 cal. is at or slightly above 5 FPE. It seems that Tom Gaylord did the same thing you did and wound up with
similar results.

The 500fps guns very likely have a different spec spring than the US guns. So yours is right where it should be.
Mine shoots at 4.8-5.2fpe depending on the pellet. The JSB 7.3gr express work best and shoot at 5.2fpe.
I just stripped and re lubed mine last week. The factory spring had lost power down to about 3fpe. With a new JM spring, it is back to normal and shooting very well.
The hw45 in .177 is a plinkers dream.

That is one fine looking pistol! 8) What kind of groups are you getting? Congratulations, and enjoy! ;D

thanks EMrider, I was thinking of ordering JM spring for this pistol since both of my HW97K and KL has his tune kit in them. Maybe one day when the original spring looses significant power.
white Eagel: I haven't shot the pistol yet other than thru the chrony. Hopefully this Sunday if it is sunny out and I will test it in the "Plink range".
will post results soon.
