Got to get a little range time on Thursday. As luck would have it, another member was there, with his brand new air hawk. I had my Cummins truck gun. It's a b3? under lever with a Simmons 4x32 scope. I didn't' feel like doing any heavy target work, just some plinking to clear the cobwebs.
Any way, I'm sitting there knocking the bull out at 15yds. and the other guy is just cussing up a storm. I walk over and ask what's up. He says the darn thing won't hit the broad side of a barn. He wasn't lying. There were only 3 hits on a 16x16 square target. I look to see what he's using for pellets. You guessed it. PBA's. Now mind you, this is the same guy that I told NOT to use PBA's in his ag's not two months ago. Long story short, I'm now the proud owner of an air hawk, and the price was right. FREE!!!. (By the way, I threw the PBA's in the trashcan on the way out the door.

;D I would almost say shame on you but it sounds like the other guy is a real slow learner ;)

That's kind of the way I saw it. He's not the kind to take advice. Not really the kind suited to owning an ag, either. He only put about 20rounds through it before he got ugly. Good thing for me,though. At least he didn't ruin the gun.

I still felt kinda bad about it. For all of about 5 minutes.
Any suggestions on what to feed it? I've got some CP's and RWS Super domes laying around,to break it in with. It's .177,by the way. I would've preferred a .22, but, beggars can't be choosy.

ok, now i want the long story cause i picture all kinds of stuff. btw, the funny part will happen when you see him again and your shooting bulls eyes with it.
-
where can i find people liek this lol
-
Long version is, he got so perturbed when I tried to help him get things sorted out, even went so far as to let him try some of my rws's, to see if that helped. He finally said," if you know so go@#$%&*#d much about these things, here, you take it. It's yours!" So, I did. Gladly. And I can't wait to see the look on his face after I get her tuned and broken in. Hate to say it, but, it'll serve him right.
Had to edit that. Something got by that shouldn't have.

If there was a video, the mods wouldn't allow it due to content.

Hey longhunter, If you want to unload that thing I'll give you what you have in it plus 10%. lol
My Air Hawk Elite and Black Hawks have the same power plant as the Air Hawk. They like RWS Superdomes or Crossman Premier Lights they don't do real bad with CPHP's either. I really don't understand why Ruger quit offering the air Hawk Elite. For the money it looks good and shoots pretty decent. I hope my funds allow me to get another Elite before they totally get gone.

His loss, your gain. There's a lot to be said for patience even though I suffer from too little as well.
Try the JSB 8.3 grain pellets. Work very well out of the B25 platforms I've had.

Nice try ;D.
I'm hoping it likes the CPH's or Super domes. I've got a lot of them.

Sure wish I had the kind of luck. Several years ago I had someone do the same thing but I didn't get a free ag out he deal. He couldn't get his ag to shoot straight to save his life so I asked what pellets he was using and wouldn't you know it pba. I tried to tell him before that the pellets are no good for spring ag but no the manufacturer said do it and I didn't know more then him or the manufacturer, so one day out the blue guess who looked me up and asked for help because he was about to trash the ag, so told him to try a different pellet tighten the screws then try it. He did that and his gun started to group, so now how about that.
His problem is like so many others that I want the fastest ag and some manufacturer capitalize on that. I believe that's why you find so many sitting and not being shot because they want 2000 fps shooting ag that can't hit a can at 30 yards.

That's also why you see so many in the pawn shops, also.

Have a friend that bought an AG and complained he was ripped off as he couldn't hit anything.
I asked what he was shooting and yes, PBA.
I suggested different ammo and he replied "But they say blah blah blah".
I asked him when he started buying into what a sales brochure says.
Long story short? I should have bought it at a cheap price but he's a friend.
Now I couldn't buy it for what he paid.
;D

looks like she's gonna be a cheap date. put a full tin of cph's through it yesterday. put a crosman 4x32 scope on today, and went on safari. after an initial site-in, i was getting 3/8th, 5-shot groups at my near zero of 14 yds. ( i was kneeling, using a downed cedar to rest my forearm on. not really the steadiest rest, but ,that's how i hunt ). i'm pretty sure i could do much better from the bench , and some more practice.
i tried the rws superdomes, but , they fit too loose in the barrel and consequently i think i'm losing velocity. they had the same poi as the cph's. they should've been hitting a little higher. i'll find out, for sure, when i chrono it.
i tore it down , when i got home, thursday. wasn't any need to deburr anything, so, i just lube tuned it. piston seal was good. replaced the breech seal ( it was too low in the seat ). the previous owner cleaned the barrel pretty well, (FROM THE MUZZLE ). had a pretty good gouge in it. i had to recrown that. put her back together, loc-tited all the important stuff. good to go.
all in all, i think i've got me a shooter. something tells me this gun is gonna get used ALOT. ;D ;D ;D

Pawn shops here won't deal in AG's. Kinda kills the easy finds. Great flea market here though. Often find a lot of AG's there.

just the opposite here in wisconsin. not many ag's in the flea markets. pawnshops are full of them, that and yard sales.
