Thanks to GTA for listening.... when I joined GTA, I had absolutely no idea that I would become so deeply interested in my year-old Daisy 880.  I did notice that it was surprisingly accurate and dependable.  I mainly shot it at 10 meters and ever-shrinking targets.  Recently, reading the many Daisy posts, I began to stretch the distances that I shoot out to 40 yards (about the maximum space I have available) and thanks to all of the discussion, the 880 is giving me more pleasure than I ever expected.  Recently, I gave it a 4-32 scope to compensate for my failing eyesight.  Other than that, it is totally stock.  All I have ever "fed" it is 30w n.d. oil and pellets.

It may be unusual but my 880 likes the Daisy Precision wadcutters as well as the Crosman premium wadcutters - and the Winchester domed (round nose).

Again, I appreciate this source of Daisy information and will continue to seek ways to regain my shooting ability so I can find out just how good my Daisy 880 really is.

I like to shoot lead-free and over time have found three pellets that work well in the Daisy 880.  Here they are in order of accuracy, although all hit the mark.

1. Daisy Lead free - BEST - These are wadcutters.  I was amazed to see how accurate they were at 25 yards, since they are flatheads. Totally unexpected.

2. H & N Baracuda Green - More pricey but the Daisy likes these as well. They are domed. More penetrating power.

3. These are not actually lead free, but the they are copper plated and don't deform too easily . For any soft targets the copper coating survives and contains the lead.

   The only pellets that didn't work well were Crosman penetrators (cylindrical) - (really not meant for the 880)  and Crosman pointed pellets.

@Alanheal:
How do you get those low weight pellets to deliver any power very far downrange?

Is there some way to move the previous Daisy discussions onto this DAISY GATE?  It seems like all that information should be consolidated here.

At 8 pumps the Daisy 880 sends those light, lead free pellets, including the wadcutters, hurtling 25 yards to penetrate empty soup cans. I rarely pump it ten times, just not necessary.  I was surprised at how well the Daisy lead free worked, first because they are wadcutters, and second because Daisy is not known for making the best ammunition.
I don't know the weight of the Daisy Lead free, but I think it's a bit over 5 grains.  The baracuda green are  6.48gr and the H& N field target trophy power ( copper coated) are 8.8 grain.

Now if we can talk one of the moderators into migrating more of the existing Daisy and Winchester threads into the Daisy Gate.   Maybe two or three per day until most of them make it here.

And please include older threads.   Some of the older threads have good information.
