It seems as if nobody has any .177 caliber Beeman R 7's in stock. So, either I wait until June OR order a HW 30s deluxe. It's not like I don't have anything to shoot, ITMT. ;)
Here is my issue: I like the way the fore stock comes out to/cover all of the metal cocking/barrel assembly on the R 7 like it does on my HW50s. All of the pictures I've seen of the HW30s Deluxe has a big glob of metal out past the fore stock and that exposed metal does not appeal to my delicate sensibilities. :-\
I just talked with Steve at Pamona Air Guns (who also doesn't have a R7 in .177) and he says the wood on his HW30s' covers the metal. Do it do OR do it don't? ???

The pictures of the hw30 on precision airgun & supplies shows the stock covering the metal. He's calling it a luxus stock. K-man

Exactly!
The R 7 stock in the background is much more pleasing to my eye than is the HW30s Deluxe stock; plus, the R 7 has a $50 muzzle brake that would have to be added to the cost of the HW30s Deluxe. {*oh, sigh*}
-
I have been leaning towards an HW30 deluxe over the R7 primarily because the HW comes with open sights even though I plan on scoping the gun. What exactly does a muzzle brake do that makes it cost $50. It doesn't come on the R7 that I've seen or have I not been looking at the best dealer's web site?
-
Buy the HW30S with the sights. The are very well done and classy. Way better than a muzzle brake.
-
Greg,
Don't worry about the stock .....you won't see it when you're shootin.....you'll be having too much fun too notice or care.
Happy shootin!

The current R7's come without open sights and with a muzzle brake. Inasmuch as the rifle will be scoped, the muzzle brake makes it look cool. A muzzle brake for an HW 30s Deluxe costs $50 because that's what it costs.
The open sights on the HW 30s Deluxe are nice, as are the open sights on my HW50s, which are in a zip-lock bag in the safe.
Hmmm, if I get a standard HW30s With the plain stock, the difference between it and a HW 30s Deluxe is about the cost of the muzzle brake. My Diana 34 doesn't have a checkered stock....Oh, what to do?
-
Greg, get the R7. Looks like that is what you want. I I agree on the muzzle break, "cool". 8)

Get the 30S and sell the sights to pay for the above.

I bought the R7 for the reasons you mentioned.

There are .20 caliber R7's in stock at a couple of places but, .20 caliber pellets seem to have a lot in common with hen's teeth. We're going to be in transition for the next 5-6 weeks. I can wait until the .177 caliber R7's get back in stock......I reckon.

Is there a market for them?

HW sights with inserts don't last long when put up for sale.
