Greetings
A week ago I bough an gamo cfx ( after reading all the positive comments on it and on variuos forums ) When I got it, I was pleased with it , the plastic trigger was so smooth, shooting cans at 55 yards with iron sights was fun. But after reading this gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/index.php?topic=23194.0 . I kinda started to regret what I bough. I watched my serial number on the barrel and found out it was 13 (2013) made. Now I feel kinda confused, I don't know if I bough a good rifle or a bad one ? Has anything changed since that topic was posted ?

If yours shoots well I would not worry about it. As long as it is hitting the mark no need to worry about your purchase is my thought.

for some reason hating on Gamo's is allowed on this forum. Not sure why.
you bought a good rifle. For some reason many many many who have NEVER even owned a Gamo bash them. Disregard all of that nonsense. Sounds like your AG is a winner. Ignore the haters

Like the others have said, if it's shooting good and you are satisfied with it then don't worry, you got a good shooter. :) I have about a dozen GAMO rifles in my collection and each one is a darn fine shooter. Some I've tuned, some I've left totally stock, but each one has performed well for me and continues to do so. Long story short........ just keep shooting your rifle and keep smiling each time the pellet hits the bullseye :)

;D I have a Gamo Whisper and my only complaint is that I didn't get a CFX instead . Since getting into this hobby I discovered that I prefer the under lever and fixed barrels for the more consistent performance. That is just my thing there are many here who prefer break barrels because they require better technique and form from the shooter which is why I keep my Whisper it keeps me humble. All of that is my take on the whole subject , if you are pleased with the CFX and it does what you want and need shoot till your fingers bleed and don't worry about what others think. I own several other decent rifles and each and every one of them has members in here who have had negative experiences with them and would not own them , that is their opinion and they are allowed to have it . The above is my opinion and I will now vacate the soap box to allow the next speaker to express theirs ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Do you really have a CFX? I looked for one last year and learned they no longer exist. They had been superceded by the CFR with better design and better features. They both have an excellent reputation. By the way, with the plastic trigger I suspect you have a CFR.

Thanks for the replies but are you guys sure you love the newer ones ( which have more plastic in them ) and not the older ones 2009 and down ?

I surely have the gamo cfx I watched a few pics of the cfr and they don't look alike.
But the most interesting thing is where I live you can get the gamo cfx in 4.5 and 5.5 ( .177 and .22 ) But you can't find a cfr anywhere ;D

BOTH of my Gamo's are 2013's. I do not have a complaint

All of my GAMO rifles are the "older" models and while I will say that I prefer them to the "newer" models there are still plenty of shooters who are more than happy with their "newer" model GAMOs.
It really just comes down to whether you're happy with it. If you are then don't worry about what others may think. You're the one who has to be happy with it, not them :)

I just looked at this post on the CFX, and looked at the "old" posting that you referred to.
The shrouded barrel, (if that's what you're talking about), was only used on the Gamo Breakbarrel models. They also did away with iron sites. They've evolved since then and there's gobs of good feedback with the newer series of upper end breakbarrel models that Gamo offers.
Gamo did NOT change the CFX. Same Steel Barrel. The CFX remained as it was. The CFR is also the same, but with the added sound moderation technology on the muzzle, the updated SAT trigger, and new stock design. I like the new CFR and it's trigger is much better than what we went thru with the old "Steel" trigger set. Thanks to CDT...we also have an upgrade option, the "GRT" trigger, if we want.
They both are very accurate 12FPE rifles, with a long following. Bashers never owned one... Lotsa "Catalog Critics" and forum parrots, online.
Congrats & Enjoy ;)

Mine purchased in 2012, love it.

Like Jeff said just keep shooting. I also own several Gamos including the CFX ( steal trigger) and it is always a joy to shoot. I did replace the trigger with the GRT III and this gun is scary accurate. All my others shoot great also. The one I like the most is the Viper Express Shotgun. This gun had terrible reviews but I love it and have so much fun with it. I created my own reloading system for the shots shells and just keep going with the same box of shells.
At the end of the day if you like it then you won!!

Own two and love them both...

Many of us cut our teeth on Gamo air rifles. I personally still own 4 of them and the CFX is one of them. The GTA is diversified and we support all pellet guns and rifles here.

I assume you live in England? On this side of the pond I don't think we can get the CFX. I have seen some BSA Polaris Air Rifle , PA STILL HAS ONE .177 left, which is the same as CFX.

Let me tell you this my brother from a Lithuanian mother, if you are hitting cans at 55 yards with your iron sights, you are ahead of the curve and have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of rifle wise. NOTHING!!!
It sounds like you got an absolute peach of a rifle, and I myself would be pleased to get one that shot like you described.
The important question to ask is, were you happy before you read what someone else wrote about the rifle? If such is the case, then carry on shooting your rifle and having fun!! ;)

Gel,
I sold off (3) Diana sidelevers, (M48&M52), and kept only (2) air rifles. One 12FPE and One 18FPE. I kept a Diana 460, for my 18FPE .177,,,and My CFX was a "no-brainer", for my 12FPE rifle. Deadly accurate and hunts small quarry very easily. Look around, and you don't see many go up for sale. That tells you something there. The CFX/CFR is a good rifle.
