Title: HW/Beeman question?
Post by: Oldgringo on March 07, 2014, 11:46:17 AM
I have seen it said that the Beeman R7 and the HW30s Deluxe are the same rifle.  Why is that?   ???

If that is so, I reckon I should order one from whomever has them available, yes?

Greg - once upon a time Beeman had sole right to import Weihrauch airguns.  Such is no longer the case.  There may be minor differences but the guns are essentially the same.  I think Beeman still carries a lifetime warranty.  Weihrauch is one year.  On the flip side, Weihrauch is generally a bit less expensive.

Thanks, I like the muzzle brake on the R7.  I put one on my HW50s.

PA website indicates it'll be June before they'll have any R 7's  in .177 caliber in stock and they apparently don't carry the HW 30s Deluxe.  AoA appears to have the HW30s, I reckon I'll just have to 'cool my jets' for awhile if I want a R 7.

I ordered my HW30s Deluxe from AOA.

I know.  That worked out alright for you with packaging, delivery and service, etc.?

I am happy with AoA’s performance. I liked how they test fired the gun before mailing it to me and included the chrono sheet with it. I will order from them again, if they carry the brand that is. I’d like an AirArms but they don’t list them on their website.

I was also happy with AOA. I ordered 3 rifles from them that PA doesn't carry.

Here they are.  The R7 has a gold trigger and adjustment screw, the HW30S is silver.  The fore ends of the stock are cut differently.  Other than that, in your hands, shooting them they're identical except for the optics.  I'm enjoying these two so much that I've thinned a few old friends out of my safe and have over $1K in the fun-gun-fund to shop for my next Beeman/Weihrauch.  I've promised to wait until spring actually gets here and this d&#@ snow goes away.

Go get one.  You'll love it!!!!!!!!!!!.............the Mailman

I ordered my Diana 56TH from AOA and nary a issue.  A little slower than I had liked but they are a brick and mortar shop that caters to folks coming off the street whereas PA is more a online retailer from what I have seen.  That said, PA is always my go to and if they don't have or carry what I need I start meandering out to find it.  Plus PA has one of the best customer service in the business in my opinion!

But I would not be afraid to do business again with AOA for sure.

My R7 came from PA, the HW30S was from AoA.  No problem with either one.  At AoA I worked with Jared @ ext. 5105.  Really nice guy.  Great CS...................the Mailman

A funding transaction  ;D is supposed to take place this afternoon.  Once that deal is completed, we'll see who has what and when on Monday.

Four hours later and the deal is done.  The search for a R 7 can get serious now.  :D

I just finalized a previously started funding transaction.  I like that choice of words.  I'm still waiting for the snow to melt, but in the meantime I'm gonna shop my butt off.  Hope you find your R7 really soon.  Otherwise I'll feel guilty shooting mine.................or maybe not!!!!!!!!!!!!.............the Mailman

I just noticed your signature inventory.  How do you like your Avanti 853 w/ Simmons .22 Mag 3-9?

I have one of each that have not been introduced to each other.  I expect to pick up another 853 the end of this month and just might scope it but, then again.....I might not.

It's now wearing an old Tasco 4x16x40AO and if it weren't for the trigger could probably shoot as well as it's German cousins.  I think an archery acquaintance of mine has one that he has tweaked into a serious tack driver.  I've been meaning to give him a call to see if he knows any magic tricks he can help me with.  I got mine NIB from PA when they had a sale going on.  No regrets, it's a shooter....................the Mailman

Mine is a 'used' CMP refurbished model and I love it for what it is.  The trigger is not as light as my CZ 452 triggers but, I have no complaints. :)

The one I'm about to acquire is an older (1994?) NIB Daisy Avanti 853.  I may have to (probably) do a lube tune/trigger job on it as well as Tru-Oil the stock.

I just got an HW30s deluxe from Straight Shooters yesterday. I really like this gun. I through a scope on it and have put pellets down range. I was going to wait for the R7 to come in but decided to go with the HW. I am not disappointed. I was concerned about the stock not covering the pivot joint but I looks great and shoots like a dream. So far the best accuracy is with the Crossman Premier Lights in the box.

I have been strongly considering either an R7 or HW30 for my close in targets (10 to 15 yds) and keeping my D350 for the 25 to 35 yds.  In talking to one of the sales reps at one of the popular AG suppliers, he told me that if I am used to shooting with the D350, I will probably be sorely disappointed with either the R7 or HW30.  They will probably feel like a Daisy Red Rider in my hands.  I went ahead and ordered a Vortek PG2 kit based on this forum's feedback and thought I would see how much of a change this makes on the D350 and hold off a decision on the Beeman or Weihrauch.

He sounds like a person that would also think you need a centerfire magnum to harvest a deer. Or maybe he has never shot a .22 before. I have a HW30 and a Diana 52 for comparison. The 30S I would say has a very high build quality and a fantastic trigger. My RWS on the other hand has good build quality and a decent T05 trigger. They are two completely different beasts imo. The HW 30 is more like a target grade .22 and the 52 is like a sporter .22 Mag. Plus the 30 is so sweet and relaxing to fire. Its fairly quiet and very accurate. The 52 is difficult to shoot accurate imo.

Anyway, you should get that HW30 and if you really don't like it I am sure it will sell quickly on this forum.

Good luck and sorry if I am perceived to have come on too strong on this topic.

Not at all.  That's why I appreciate everyone's input.  With the variety of AG that everyone has, the sales rep's response sounded a little off base.  Mainly implying that if you were used to shooting a higher velocity AG, you would be not be happy with the lower velocity.  This line of thought is contrary to what a lot of the members here have shown in the AG inventories.

I agree with what I think you're saying, bigger is not automatically better (some would disagree).  My Diana 52 is beautiful and accurate, but its weight and the cocking effort may make it my least favorite air rifle.  I'm looking forward to acquiring another Daisy Avanti 853 before month's end and a R 7 as soon as they become available again.  I neither need nor want an air cannon to punch paper in the backyard.

Too true. Lower powered guns are just a joy to shoot. There are too many people that want powder power in an air rifle. They need to accept the guns for what they are and use the proper tool for the job at hand.
