i can't believe it took me so long to think of it.

I thaught about the pipe insulation but never figured away to keep it on

Great thinking, Steve, and thanks for sharing. You could have repackaged it and sold it yourself at a decent markup!!

DOH!!

Now that is a just cool fantastic mod!
-
unbelievably simple!!! great mod to my FT rig which does not have an adjustable cheek piece... genius sir...

I use the same pipe insulation, but hold in on with a product called VetWrap that I get at my local farm store (tractor supply or southern states in my neighborhood). It's a super stretchy bandage material, kind of a cross between and ACE bandage and shrink wrap. The really good thing is that it only sticks to itself, so no residue left on rifle. Comes in every color you can think and only costs about $2.50 a roll.

great idea Steve,
I'll be picking up one of those today !
-
Who'd a thunk it! :o
-
That's what I've done too, except I got the knee bandage at the dollar store and I changed the pipe insulation, which gives, for a crutch cushion which doesn't.
-
Hey that is sweet, my 850 need one of these!!!
thanks Steve
-
I'm using a pool noodle cut in half for my cushion.

brilliant idea!
-
Just did this for a Diana 45 that, with the droop mount, puts the scope pretty high. For the record, I found the same elbow sleeve at Walmart, still for just under 8 bucks. I used the foam from a PA/AGD pellet package to build the riser. The only thing that isn't perfect is the Diana 45 has no comb at all, so it slides a little bit, but is long enough to work wherever it slides to. A "sling" around the butt would fix that.
-
I have had my butt in a sling more times than I'd like to admit.

Well, I guess I'll share my pipe insulation cheek rest idea as well. Just pipe foam insulation wrapped with electrical tape
