Title: How to get back in
Post by: bigbadwulff on July 22, 2010, 04:21:48 PM
You have to somehow get to the new site(new layout) not the one from the "visit old site here", "visit new site here".
(Old Air Guns Forum Is Back online!
or go to New Air Guns Forum)

I went to Charlie's site(go to a post by him and use his link to his site) and go to the new site from the link there. TRY THAT!!!!

To the Admin:

You need to somehow send a link to the NEW SITE via e-mail to all members or hope they see this and follow my directions and assume I am correct.

That other funny-looking board(interim site??) does not send your password to you via your email address and does not allow you to re-register.

Hope this helps.

Another note to Admin: This post does not show up in the other board: "Old Air Guns Forum Is Back online!
or go to New Air Guns Forum" ...thus making this post almost useless ;)

Guys many of you have the GTA in your favorites or a hot link. Those links will take you to the old GTA. Remember that the old GTA is a .COM and the new GTA is a .ORG.

So if you want to go to the new GTA: http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/gta (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/gta)

So if you want to go to the OLD GTA: http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/ (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com)   THe old GTA is an Archive of past years of posts. You cannot make posts there.

All new registrations and post will be on the NEW GTA: http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org)

Any question please ask me.

Don't know if you know it(but I'm sure you do) but a few days ago an interim board popped up. it wasn't the old one and it wasn't the new one. If you use a new browser that updates your sites as you use them, then that interim site continues to pop up, leaving you with no access to the new site.
If you choose 'go to new site', it does not recognize your password and will NOT forward a password to your e-mail. Nor will it allow you to re-register. It is leaving members in limbo as they cannot see this new site.

This is the link I'm talking about:

http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/ (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/) And now(this is new) the link to the new air guns forum does not work. i think before they BOTH took you to the old forum archives(interim-looking site)

The reason for both links taking you to the old site was a migration issue and your cache files. You really need to clean them out and it all will work properly
I had the same problem and that was my fix and i can come and go to either site now with no problems. Just make sure you use the links I have posted

Just went in directly using org suffix.  Nada.  Had to use the "respond to this email" link.  And the registration function remains inactive.

I've entered every way possible from multiple sources and browsers and have not seen or cannot create a connect issue. Like Gene said, be sure to clear your cache. Regardless of what browser that you are using, you must clean out your cache meaning history and cookies which should be done often as general maintenance on your computer anyway. I clear my cache several times a week.

Registration on Old GTA is not functional. The Old GTA is archieved. The GTA is NOW .org and NOT .com.
Please use the following link to access the NEW GTA http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/gta

Gene, Bob , you can sill post on the old GTA site.
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/index.php/topic,27848.0.html (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/index.php/topic,27848.0.html)
Gene I just sent a pm to you, but this link was posted today , you can indeed post on the old GTA site. if it is just suspose to be an arcive site, than maybe something is wrong as others have posted there as well. I dont think it puts a date in the post, but if you look at my link you'll see the date at the top rather than in the post.
Others have posted on that site as well, so maybe it isn't completely closed ?

After 2 days of trying I'm finally back in......  Woo Hoo  ;D

No matter what I did I kept getting directed to the "old" GTA... it was very frustrating but  Bob set me straight   ;D  He told me to clean out all my "cookies" and follow the link he sent me and here I am   ;D

It's good to be back home   ;D

I can tell you I am kinda goofy now..:) Not in a very good mood now that I found out that there was posting in the old GTA. That was the last straw with me. I just pulled it off line until we can figuere out how to undo the confusion with people thinking that it is the new GTA...:(

People never clean their catch or cookies out. And many do not read these posts that explain things. The Old GTA was converted to SMF in order to pull in users and post to the New GTA. That ended up a failure. So we are using it as an archieve so members can go there and search for old posts and topics by keyword and user name.

Also it will retain all the search engine information which when you do a search on the internet for lets say a Crosman Trail NP, it will still retain the reference link so when clicked on you will be taken to the old forum and to the post.

Hey Gene I didnt mean to stir-up a hornets nest , but you did ask if anyone had any issues.
when the New GTA started, I along with others crossed over to the new site. I cleared my link to the old site but as the new one came on board, that new link took me to the old site, so somehow it was changed, dont know how but it did. than reading a post on that old site wich was a new post there , showing that the new GTA was a dot org and not a dot com, I again changed and it has sinced worked fine from my favorites file.
I look at different sites and the only link to the GTA was on the AVA forum, but that link took me to the old forum.  OH that old forum  asked to create a new password to be able to post, which I and it looked like others did as well.
My pm to you this morning talking about using the AVA site to get to this forum, has now has been corrected by Dave, I hope, but with you killing the old site, I wont know that till later.
So sit back, grab a cold one , hopefully those that were posting over on the old site will now realize that one is DOA  and come over here.
