Hi guys,
My Hatsan Striker 1000x .22 is acting up. I've fired maybe 800 shots without a problem up until a couple of days ago. Now, it is regularly not firing the pellet, makes a sound, a shudder or hiccup that I can feel and hear, and doesn't dislodge the pellet. I can recock the gun normally and fire again once or twice without success, and then the gun will fire, it seems normally, with good force. The resistance when I cock the barrel seems normal to me. When it does fire, the gun feels and sounds normal. It's just getting stuck as often as not now.
I don't have a way to measure the speed of the pellet when it does fire. Yesterday, I was able to fire maybe 15 shots in a row, then it started misbehaving again. As of this morning, I have a pellet stuck in the gun, and it didn't fire despite 4 tries.
I'm using the same pellets, Crosman Premier Hollow Points, that I always used. It's not that the pellets are wrong or deformed, but a problem with the gun. I did try cleaning the barrel to no effect.
Anyone have any idea what might be the problem? I guess I'll end up sending it to Hatsan for warranty service since it's less than a year. Anything else I can try?
Also, what's the best and cheapest way (in lower 48) to send this back to Hatsan USA for service? Will USPS accept it? Is UPS a better choice?
Thanks for any help.
Dennis

Sounds like the seal is about to let go completely. Probably badly nicked at assembly.

Well, thats what warranties are for. Contact Hatsan, get a shipping slip (they usually ship fedex ground) and return # or whatever they tell you, and send it back. You shouldn't have to find a fix for a new gun, and you shouldn't have to pay to return it and get it fixed. This also informs them of possible manufacturing problems if enough come back with the same issue.
