Title: seals
Post by: codytwoeyes on February 17, 2014, 10:10:51 PM
I am going to order a new seal for my XL 22. So my question is go a mccary  vortex or just go with a stock seal from Crossman.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I prefer the factory seals. If nothing else, for the price alone. With a good clean and deburr on the rifle, they hold up just fine.  ;)

Maccarri seals are very nice units. They provide better durability, better sealing characteristics, and seem to be more forgiving of tube imperfections. Vortek seals offer pretty much the same quality IMO. Stock seals are ok, but I find you don't get the max performance possible from a rifle when using them.
