Title: Diana 350 cocking arm cutting into compression tube
Post by: David.Soliman on February 16, 2014, 12:46:53 PM
The roller on my D350 cocking arm has caused some very significant ware on the compression tube any fix for that?
From the ware on the roller itself it is obvious the roller is not stuck, i lube it frequently but lubing is not doing the trivk.

I had a problem with my gamo cocking shoe and i replaced it wth rubber tubing and used super glue to keep that in place. The cocking cycle on the gamo has improved greatly, but I have no idea how long it will hold.
Will the same trick work on the Diana?

Forgive me for asking what may seem like a simply answered question, but, what do you mean by "the roller on my D350 cocking arm"..?? Normally, the cocking arm is just that, an arm. What is the "roller" part of it..??

The 350 has an articulated cocking arm like the Air Hawk

This is the groove created by the roller on the cocking arm:

and this is the rubber tubing on the Gamo, I placed it where the old plastic slide used to be, it is very smooth to cock almost like a gas ram:

Good grief David, I should have just reached over and had a look at mine. I never even realized that... I thought you meant that the arm was carving up the inside of the channel itself. Wow, that's unusual... Is your 350 a Panther (like mine), because it looks like one, with the plastic stock... I'm going to have a quick look at mine, which hasn't been fired for more than a handful of times, just to make sure it isn't happening...

Just how significant or deep is that marking it's making..??

The first photo is  the 350 classic, the second one is for the Gamo with the repair that I made. I had tye gun for 2 years, broke the original spring arround the 7000 shot mark. Now it has about 15000 shots through it.
The groove is just over 1/2 mm deep and it seems that the roller is not cutting clean but rather swaging a channel with raised edges. The problem may go away on its own but I am sure that the cocking cycle will improve if this was fixed.

Common problem on the 350. Keeping the raceway lubed will help as the raceway on the stock.
Many have done as you did on the gamo. There is a a small wheel metal piece connecting the 2 arms. Make sure the wheel is rolling. Another option would be make a delrin roller. You can spread the roller connection very easy.. No 350 left here but out of 4 I saw this on 2 as yours. The others showed only markings and none if any wear. White lube will help.
