Title: Flying Dragon Tutorial on putting it all back together .
Post by: Nick Hammack on February 01, 2014, 02:53:08 PM
This will be long and drawn out for I don't have lots of time to devote to posting via dial up .

Please do not post in this column for it will just clutter things up and one can post comments into other threads already started .

This is a pic of the action and pressure tube ,  note the hole drilled thru the action ,  this I drilled and tapped for 10-32 to lock the stop block in place for extra insurance .

This is the seal that everyone is worried about ,  this seal would be very hard to destroy one would have to really work at it ,  the seal needs to be taken out and lubed and put back in and tube screwed back in JUST SNUG  or you will distort the seal and it will bulge out and it will not seal .

This is the valve cartridge with the set screws in the side and I also made a bushing to go into the stop block to help maintain the straightness of the pin valve over the long haul ,  I also placed the stop block in the lath and faced off .020 of the rear of the block (  the part the hammer will be hitting ) to give it a little more adjustability on the valve dwell timing .

This is what the stop looks like in relation to the action , notice the additional set screws in place .

Now lets put it together ,   this is the bolt as shown with the post set visible with the parts in order ,  slide the bolt into the back of the receiver and place the spring in place first , then line up the bolt with the bolt handle and push down until the detent lines up and place set screw firmly down on bolt handle .

put together the valve cartridge in the order of the picture ,  on the brass the additional 2 o rings will go on that location .

The O-ring that goes in the separation is somewhat critical on the setting ,  screw the cartridge together and check the fit by sliding in the action ,  if it goes hard back the fit ,  it should be a felt resistance but go into the action with out any help other than by hand pressure .
