Title: Calling all .22 Syn/M-Rod EXPERTS!!!!
Post by: Luzmartinezjr on January 16, 2014, 08:58:47 PM
Here is the deal. Bought a new .22 synrod on black friday. I have shot about 500-600 pellets thru it. At 16-18 yds this thing is crazy accurate. I can shoot pencils and pens with ease. I love this gun!!  I am using a 4-16x40 center point. Yesterday i stretched it out to 70-80yds. No wind, nice calm day. I was hitting to the left about 4-5 inches consistantly with the "big 3" (18.1,21.1.14.3) pellets. So i adjusted my scope accordingly and wow!!!   I was hitting a 2inch target with ease. I was feeling great!!!!
Today on the other hand i was again shooting "using the big 3" at my 16-18 yard targets and i was hitting 3 mil dots to the right?????  What the heck????
Is there a slice (like in golf) to my pellet trajectory???  Has anyone ever heard of this??  Please help!!!

May very well be getting a slight HELIX flight path .... Try slowing it down / speeding it up a tad and see if things change ?

Know rifles new, but cleaning up crown, making sure breech is polished, rifling lead and transfer hole is burr free can help a LOT !!

I also bought a .22 synrod on black Friday. I personally think it shoots a tad too fast, like mine, but I don't know. I'm not going to tune my rifle without a chrony.

When I shoot 14.3gr pellets, I can see it in shoot in a spiral. I can't even put it on paper at 50 yards.

Yep could be a lot of things, a few more things to try are;

1- Make certain the scope rings are tight enough, but be careful not to over tighten.

2- When you are not using the rifle - try resting the rifle horizontal (see picture), like in a gun rest or similar.

3- I like to use a #113 90 duro O-ring in the air stripper (if you want, PM me and I can drop one in the mail to you at no charge, I keep extras). Some think the O-ring in the air stripper can take a "set", even if only temporary - and cause barrel alignment issues.

4- Another thing to try is to; back the shroud away from the breech 1/2 turn.

5- Try installing (after applying silicone) a #18 O-ring (3/4"I.D.x1/16"C.S.x7/8"O.D.) over the shroud and between the shroud and barrel band.

It's usually a matter of process and elimination, while trying the easiest first.

You may wish to visit: http://www.marauderairrifle.com/forum/index.php (http://www.marauderairrifle.com/forum/index.php)
nearly everything you may wish to know "MARAUDER" is in the archives of posts.

Site has nothing on the GTA for its expanse of airgun knowledge or activity, but should have all you seek within a few SEARCH entries.

Search your inquires here too .... Read on my friend  ;D

Sounds like your reticle is canted, which means it is not exactly level in the rings.

I did exactly what that that guy said to do. My reticle is not slanted. I shot again at my 16-18yrd range. Jsb 18.1 r stupid accurate!!!!!  10 shot group the size of 3 pellets. I could not stretch it out further today it was to windy. Thanks guys for all ur suggestions
