The Air Guns of Arizona regulator for the small tube PRod/ Challenger/ 1720 didn't function. I shimmed my gauge block to the hole and left it in front of the regulator to see what it was doing. Result: no regulation. It came with no preload on the disc springs. Just rattling loose. I cranked the tiny star wheel with a pick as much as I could, which was only 9 teeth before it got too hard to turn, and it still didn't regulate. Whatever pressure I fed from the tank was immediately registered on the gauge in the air space following the regulator. I have since decided to run an external 13ci HPA regulated tank mounted under the fore grip so the AGA regulator is going back.

At the request of Airguns of Arizona I emailed the designer of the Discovery air pressure regulator twice over the course of two weeks but he never responded. There is no support for this regulator and mine doesn't work. It is going back. Do not buy this.

I have ordered a regulator from Altaros in CZ and will report on that when I get it installed. It comes pre tested and adjusted to the pressure of your choosing and just drops in with no need to drill your tube.

I have no personal experience with that regulator but everything I have read on it is that people are not very happy with it and its performance. I have my disco regulated with a bottle that seams to be best way to get the performance I wanted.

Venting is only needed after extended periods of time which may allow some pressure to seep past the orings into the piston bore where the springs are. This shouldn't happen in such a short period of time of a few seconds. If at all. I have read of other people using regulators with no vents that didn't want to drill their air tubes who did nothing more than pull the regulator out to vent it every month even though it was working fine. This regulator was shipped with no pre loading whatsoever. No pre adjustment. no testing. The spring discs were rattling loose. The instructions say each tab of the star wheel will change the pressure 65 psi. Which is 65 psi from what? I was only able to turn the wheel 9 tabs and before it got so tight that the end of my pick was just tearing up the tiny little tabs. This regulator is built too fine to work with even if it did function. How can the designer expect someone to dial in a hundred? pounds of pressure into the spring stack using only the access of that tiny slot. The Altaros regulator is the same price, comes tested and pre adjusted, and never needs venting.
