Title: Couple HW75 Questions
Post by: Brazos on January 05, 2014, 11:16:12 AM
I got my new HW75 a few days ago.  Very nice pistol and proud of my purchase.  I do have a couple of quick easy questions the manual didn't address, or at least clearly.  First it shows a hole to put oil into (@ the compression chamber) every 500 shots.  The manual said an acid free oil (or something like that).  Can y'all tell me what I need to buy to put in there?  I do have a bottle of FP10 if that will work.  Next question is the finish.  The gun looks blued (matte blued).  I do not believe the pistol is all steel but some sort of alloy so that would mean it is not blued.  Just want to verify so I know how to care for it after shooting.
Thanks Brazos

Hi,  Congrats on your HW75.  Very nice shooting pistols.  I used to have one, but sold it for something else.  I always used the Crosman pellgun oil on mine while I had it.  Never any problems, to my knowledge.  Pellgun oil is supposed to be friendly to o-rings, so it should be ideal.

As far as finish on the gun, I would just wipe it down with a cloth with only a couple drops of oil to remove finger prints and such.  I believe you are correct in that it is made of an alloy and it does not seem to rust.

Thanks Tomcat.  I was figuring pelgun oil but wanted to verify.  I to am fairly certain the gun is not all steel as it would weigh 10 lbs due to the size of it.  It is all metal though.  The finish is very even and nice and looks like a well done matte blue job which makes me second guess.
